Banned question (ie carlosfm and others)

I recommend all the good members of this furum to himself ask "when technical contributions have lost" on account of some behaviour of little number of members that monopolized the sections.
I not posted more after 1 years in this forum, and I think that my threads is among the most visited of all the forum....
Memory even that Graham Maynard (and others) has chosen to not posting more from a great deal of time, and I creed that much other competent "timid" persons have chosen to behaviour this.
When analyse the matters of the banner perhaps even has to remember the persons that have gone without "banning or moderating intervents" because they is un gentlemen....

Mauro,

I think you know that we try to have one of the most civilized sites for discussion of DIY Audio. We have dealt with aggressive people in the past and unfortunately have recently had to do it again.

Of course Audio is an emotional topic for many people, so there is only so much we can do. I hope that you will enjoy participating again and sharing your designs with us.

It's too bad, you know. I used to go to Texas for the giggles. Now that some, er, 'issues' have been.. er, uh, exorcized... Texas is like a desert wasteland. It's few and far between for those beautiful, personally inspired *rimshot* comebacks, those brutal slogs of a fistfight, those incredible attacks of one member or many..against others.

It was nice to have all the little wars in one spot, so one could go there..and see and read the funnies..all in one fell swoop. A literary circus ride of the lowest order.

Moderators slogged away, and toiled and tilled the land..now nice little brussel sprouts of relatively benign communication take place, but it is literally debatable if more-or less- manages to take place, in terms of 'work done'. Sure, less ulcers and smashed keyboards, but yah gotta break eggs to make omlettes.

But not everyone like omlettes. And, they shouldn't be a universal food. Nothing should.

Oh well. Good riddance..but..I kinda miss it.

Brian, please calm down. Raising one's voice is quite useless as a debating tactic. We're all grown ups here, each being a judge for themselves based on presented arguments and supporting evidence.
Sorry. You are the moderator - what sort of thread/site are you looking for? You want serious discussion and a thread that embodies reason or do want a free-for-all that is a frustrating mix of trustworthy and deliberately bogus posts without "arguments and supporting evidence"? For new visitors to this site how useful and attractive is the latter? This thread isn't the first to suffer this as you know.

I did some thinking this March.
I put down into writing my thoughts at that time.
It could serve as something to discuss around.
Here it is:
Everything below this line is written in March!

-----------------------------------------------------------------
- CENSORSHIP - what it could lead to -

In my opinion
censorship requires very great skills
of the controller.
In a website of DIYaudio:s nature, eventual moderation
is function of vital concern.
It influences the very mainstream
of activity in this place.

Selection of moderators must be made with outmost carefulness.

Some credentials:
1. Knowledge of regulations applied for websites, legalities etc.

2. Ability to see things in their right perspective.
Distinguish minor problems from major.

3. Ability to understand what is most benfitial for the inmates
in the long run. I do not say benefitial for DIYaudio,
as this forum consists of its members, the inmates.
- Without us, the inmates, DIYaudio is nothing, zero, finito! -

4. A sane temperament, be calm, not hasty - think before acting.
And not to suffer of personal neuroses getting in way of common sense.

These are some considerations, surely some more points can be added.

So selection of persons is a very important matter.

Could be done by all moderators get together for evaluation,
at a specified day every month or every second month.
There at meeting a democratical decision is made about
new moderators, and critics or EVEN TERMINATION of
individual moderators' duty is suggested.

Result is openly stated at Forum for all community members
to read. There should always be possible to get information
of the monikers that are moderators at a given time.

Withholding of information often leads to division
between those having info and the others having not.
Could even arise suspicion that something is
covered up.

And things that needs cover, are mostly things
that can not stand a view in open daylight.

o boy 😀
that was quite a list

... by your standards of selecting moderators .. who could ever qualify
😕

My e-mail inbox is still empty.
However, I can guess what you are going to say.
So, I don't expect the mail very much.

I am not always right in my posting.
But, I don't like to be a prisoner, without knowing why.
At least in this civilized society.
Because I feel sad, as you would do the same . . .

All the best,

Did you see that chair overhead?

OK for a CHANGE, heres a cheer for the mods.

for whom looking after this site must be particularly thankless BUT just visited the other place (diyhifi.org) and I'm frankly stunned....

felt like I walked into a bar fight!

Wouldnt have mentioned it but. I find myself suddenly appreciative of the tolerance to my dumb questions... Ok some folks dont like it but there you go. To them I say, "I work in China you want to know what NO freedom of speech looks like??"

(no, no, you dont..)

Thanks Andy,

We truly try to do a good job and discuss almost any decision amongst ourselves before acting. Obviously we make mistakes sometimes and just as obviously, some people will never be satisfied with us.

Lately we've been getting various positive messages and appreciate them.

No offense please
