I’ve never been able to be member of a community in my whole life.
The rebel in me told me that no one could ever make a decision for me
and that I was the only one who knew what’s best for me.
I somehow thought that I could handle all problems alone, placing myself above the rest.
Until a certain extend I still believe this is true, meaning that no one has to tell me how to live my life.
That’s one of the reasons why I never married, have no children and was only able to live together with someone at the age of 34.
Doesn’t mean I have regrets.
However, I learned to listen to others, and learned to communicate with people.
And so, after long hesitation, mainly caused by the above ‘problem’ I finally registered at this forum.
For the first time in my life I was deliberately a member of a community, being one with no commitments.
I was well aware that there would be rules just like in any other society.
Strangely, this wasn’t the hardest part.
I had and still have no problem at all with the forum rules,
and applying them is just a matter of common sense for me.
I still have a lot of problems with rules, especially with what I think are stupid rules.
The terrible thing with rules is that many of them are made for brainless people. The stupider the people, the stupider the rules.
If I don’t agree anymore with the rules, I’m out of here. Easy as that. (Real life is different; you can’t get out of it as easy as one could leave a forum.)
I’ll find other ways or do it again by myself. But I’ll never blame the community.
People here work way too hard to do the right thing.
Moderators learn as much from us as we do from they’re countless posts.
And no, this is not ***licking as some would call it. (Self-censored)
PS: Long ago I found out that the ideal democracy is anarchy. But then, we all have to be very clever and treat each other very equal.
/Hugo – the hardest part? Sometimes I preferred English was my native language. Amen. 😉

Email notification problem that I posted a couple days ago ...
I want to let the moderators know that since yesterday, I have started to resume receiving email message notification if there is a new post from a thread that I have posted. I don't know what you guys or the administrator did but it seem to be working now.

The understanding is an utopy, like the anarchy ,and is for that it goes searched.

Interesting. That last post did bump the thread, but my post on the George W. Bush thread didn't.
Conspiracy?
Conspiracy?

There are threads the mods like, and such they dislike....
Not every thread is visible at http://www.diyaudio.com/index.php?s=
If you post the thruth about USA or general politics they usually dislike.
But if you tell lies about resistor, chipamp or cable sound, they like.

I guess that's one way of saying it.

Yup, it certainly seems like something has happened to suppress visibility of the GWB thread. The software that runs this forum seems flawless, so maybe one of the Mods has indeed tampered with the settings for that thread.
Just saw that last post. That explains it. I guess.

Maybe somebody can explain why this thread got moved to Off Topic (was it started there?):
"Anybody knows where t oget cheapie self-adhesive copper tape??"
"Anybody knows where t oget cheapie self-adhesive copper tape??"
Off Topic means Off Topic. If you want posts on politics put in a featured place, there are numerous forums where that can be done. Any Off Topic post needs to be accessed through the same means, regardless of content.
No offense intended, till, but of the moderator and admin crew, there are only two Americans. The rest are Aussies, British, and Canadians. The idea that there's some sort of American cabal controlling the visibility and content of posts here is ridiculous.

The name of this forum says:
diyAudio.com / projects by the fanatics, for the fanatics
My first reaction was to completely delete the latest GWB thread as it was the reaction of the other member:

If we still decided to keep this thread active, it's more the act of generosity than bad will. The only place for this crap is in Off Topic section. Because it's off topic, it's not visible to members who are mostly interested in Audio topics and not political issues.
It has nothing to do with what mods like and dislike, if you were wondering about it.
Hate to disappoint some of you guys, but......
There are those of us that think that the mods might actually be on the side of all you guys who seem to hate GWB and the USA.
You should be thankful for their "generousity" to allow bandwidth for your views which have little to do with DIY anything.

This has been an interesting thread. A few points:
1. I don't mind Halo. I love his wacky, eccentric posts, filled with childlike adulation and petulance. I'm not surprised he's a hacker; he is clearly not a man who loves rules. He has been something of an irritant here, but I would never describe him as malicious. Whether he is permitted back is entirely up the moderators, who I think do a bloody good job, and whom I would unequivocally support REGARDLESS of their actions. We should show loyalty, notwithstanding the fallibility of any moderator, and rules should be always be both enforced and seen to be enforced.
2. An anarchistic society is distinctly NOT the best. We must control and limit self-interest, which often, and by its nature, runs counter to the interests of the group. This interesting ideology has been tried again and again throughout history, but the only ones who persist with it are generally those who love ideas more than people. The outcome is predictable, and often fascist. Sadly, the anarchists are often intelligent and temperamentally negative, and the damage they do often considerable, but rules are necessary because morality and group welfare can never be assumed. This is not a matter of intelligence; it is a matter of temperament. People are made from parts bins; morality and intelligence are NOT the same bin.
3. Posts on matters political, viz GWB, should never be permitted. Opinions are as ubiquitous as sphincters, with everyone having them, and just as objectionable during a flatulent disagreement. It doesn't matter whether you love or hate Bush or Blair or Osama bin Laden; it's completely, absolutely irrelevant to your presence on this forum. This forum is about DIY, DIY, DIY, and more DIY. There are plenty of other forums which permit discussion on such matters; I'd exhort those so inclined to visit them and pepper their political views elswhere.
Cheers,
Hugh

Hi,
You could also just as well suppress the " Off Topic" and "Everyrhing Else" part of this forum but I agree, this is not the right place to air political opinions.
There are other forums for that....
Still, people wouldn't be people if they wouldn't take advantage of something offered for free.
Need I remind anyone that this forum does cost money and instead of complaining about imagined shortcomings maybe we should all give Jason and the generous Westpoint company ( Is that the correct name?) a big standing ovatin aplause for their extremely generous offer on hosting this forum.
Just leave your PC on 24/7 for a few months and you'll know what I mean.
Was Halojoy banned? I'm not so sure anymore.
Do we want him back?
I don't mind him as long as he adheres to forum rules and respects peoples' privacy....but will he?
Question is, does he want to and what does the forum board think about it?
Do any of you want anarchy? I know I don't.
Cheers,😉

I think the action here was correct, don't remove it but keep it out of the way of the good stuff. Good job.

It only seems to be the best theoretical society.
It enforces the highest form of responsibility towards each other.
Only, human kind is not made like that.

subject change?
Hi Mods,
There is a newbe in the solid state forum with a problem with his amp. I've tried to help out, but I'm out of my depth. His subject line could probably do with a change (maybe tack help needed finding fault) on the end, so that maybe the right people will read it.
thread: http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=25089
Wasn't sure where the "correct" place to ask this sort of thing was.
Tony.
