Actually as an extension of that question.
What would the tuning difference be between a pensil and microtower? Obviously the dual drivers makes a big difference, though the microtower has a smaller volume and a completely different port. Is there room for a hybrid? Pensil tuning, castle/bipolar dual driver design? I'm in particular thinking about pluvia 7hds as I have 4 sitting in a box wanting to be built into something.

Is there any difference between the two types?
They all use the same alignment, most of the differences come from differing diffraction signatures.

Is this in reference to slot vs tube port or pensil vs micro tower?
Or both? 😂😉
@Mitch311 I think Dave was talking specifically about https://www.diyaudio.com/community/threads/microtower-revisited.364581/post-7882748, not anything to do with Pensil.

That was in reference tomyminiOnkens — guess i got lost as to wha tthread i was in.
Ref Castle vrs bipole microTower - i have both - i prefer the castle.

Dave would there be any point in a castle topped pensil with dual drivers?
Allowing the larger enclosure for the tuning, but keeping the dual driver Castle situation.
How much would the pensil need to be redesigned to take dual p7hd?

@planet10 are your Castles oriented for front or rear facing drivers?Ref Castle vrs bipole microTower - i have both - i prefer the castle.

If you mean the second driver on the angled top, I think the operation wouldn’t be Pensil-ish at all? Not that it couldn’t “work”.Dave would there be any point in a castle topped pensil with dual drivers?

Thinking about it a bit, I can imagine an “Atmos enabled” Pensil with a second driver isolated in an upper compartment angled at some magic njmber.
Wait, no that’s just silly talk.
Never did experiment with upward firing for the overhead height channels.

You can castle a microTower because it is end-loaded. The Pensil has a significant Zd -- you’d have to manipulate the cabinet shape such that the toop driver was right next tonthe main driver.
I have played with theconcept unsuccessfully — you sre not the first to ask that question. A folded ML-Voigt would be much easier.

Never thot of turning a castle so that the front driver is facing backwards.
