Adding a basic data point: Idle current.
My 2 amps have different transformers so they act a little different. On the bench with no signal & no load my OEM xfmr idles at 1.5 Amps and my aftermarket xfmr idles at about 1.7 Amps. (this is warmed up, after inrush)
If your amp idles a lot higher it probably needs investigation (possible oscillations & such).
