I have recently acquired a number of square 1 inch soft dome tweeters. manufacturer is Philips of Belgium part number dd0100972. after some research roger russell confirmed them to be McIntosh units used in the xrt 20c McIntosh loudspeaker. they are supposed to be comparable to the round Philips AD 0163HE-T8. does anyone have basic specs on this driver? currently running a 1st order x-over at 3000hz and am quite surprised by their sound. While they may not be morel mdt33 (currently in my 2ch setup) they are darn close! any support for this driver is welcome as I am planning to use them in small mtm actively x-over for my computer system.

Here it is

The AD01630 came in two versions, the T8 (8 ohms) and T15 (15 ohms).
In both cases the resonance freq. is 1300 Hz and a power handling of 4 watts (crossed at 2 kHz) or 6 watts (crossed at 4 kHz). Power handling seems very conservative (I drove some of those at very high levels).
Manufacturer response curve is quite flat, with a decline starting at 15 kHz.
Nice and smooth vintage driver, but quite surprising (although true) to find them in - so called - high end speakers.

As you know, birds do not have sexual organs because they would
interfere with flight. [In fact, this was the big breakthrough for the
Wright Brothers. They were watching birds one day, trying to figure
out how to get their crude machine to fly, when suddenly it dawned on
Wilbur. "Orville," he said, "all we have to do is remove the sexual
organs!" You should have seen their original design.] As a result,
birds are very, very difficult to arouse sexually. You almost never
see an aroused bird. So when they want to reproduce, birds fly up and
stand on telephone lines, where they monitor telephone conversations
with their feet. When they find a conversation in which people are
talking dirty, they grip the line very tightly until they are both
highly aroused, at which point the female gets pregnant.
