Thank you Jens, Raj and Bjarne!
I have thought decay in recorded music to be pivotal to sounding 'natural', Jens, so I'm very pleased it makes it to your standard. Correct decay in recorded music is very important to a real image, particularly if you listen in a large cathedral recording, for example the Misa Criolla from Mercedes Sosa, one of the most atmospheric recordings I have ever heard. I used this piece during the tuning of the amp, as it magnified 'engagement' and 'decay'.
Again, you guys have made my day! So much better than watching 'Casino Royale' the third time this evening!!

A couple of weeks down the road ...
A lot of music has been through my system - and through the Mayas - the last couple of weeks. Surprisingly, quite a few recordings that I previously thought were not that good suddenly emerge as not so bad after all!
This is especially clear now that my Mayas are pretty well burned in - a nice surprise 🙂
I think this may again be about the musicality of the Maya ...

But no, the really bad recordings are still presented with all their flaws - I think that not even the best of amps can change that 😉
Cheers,
Jens

Thanks for the post, Jens, I'm bloody thrilled you are getting lots of use from your Mayas!!
You know, for years I have been trying to design an amp that sounds really good with lousy recordings........
But I really think I will be working at this for at least the rest of my life, that's a tough nut to crack!

Thank you Garry!
I'm also really pleased your Maya delivers good service, five years, MTBF by design is 25 years, certainly should see out me!
Merry Xmas, and Happy New Year to you, your family, and all past present and future Aspen customers........

You know, with gracious permission from customers, I have put together a list of testimonials of the Maya, prompted recently from lots of information from Bjarne and Jens, and it really reads well...... no doubt, this has been a very good amp and I have no desire to retire at all, I will sell it for at least a few years!

Another Maya in Denmark
Greetings from the owner of the latest Maya in Denmark 😃
I finished it yesterday - listened some today - and I’m really happy.
The design is genius I think - it sounds really good!
I try to attach some pics - and then come back with more thoughts on the sound during the weekend.
No luck on the pics right now...
Thanks to Hugh - for a great amp to us diy people. And really great and kind service ..
Cheers 😃

Thank you!
Hi Henning,
Thank you very much for taking the time to express your happiness with your new Maya!
You were a very good listener during the assembly and wiring phase. Thank you for your patience and careful learning, you catch on ideas quickly, like Bjarne.
From the pictures you sent to me the modules have made a wonderful home in your beautifully made enclosure! And the neatness of the wiring is very professional, just like a high class professional component.
I hope your Maya continues to make beautiful music for thirty years! Welcome to the Aspen family!
Ciao,
Hugh

Hi Hugh
It's been a while since we last spoke. The pandemic has kept most of us under lockdown. This has given more time to entertain. The Maya is truly an extraordinary amp. With each passing day, it reveals itself more and more. At first, it was a bit bass shy if I should complain of anything ..but now that she is all settled the bass is of a different caliber...not only is it deep and wide but plays with a musical shimmer that just pulls you into the music and keeps you there...and this is across all genres...so extraordinary that i have decided to give her a new home..I have the mahogany lumber to build the case..hopefully, I will be able to post some pics. I still have not put the Saska together as yet. but will build a case for it as well
All the best

Hi Sene,
I have written to you personally but thank you for this lovely testimony for your Maya!! I remember the time as though yesterday, and your kindness at the time I am so glad that the last few years have had pleasant times with the Maya, and lets hope the next years give the same good service.
Try to set up the SAKSA - you will find it too is an exceptional good amp. So much that I have not been able to improve on my entry level amp even five years later!
Hope the family are all well and that you have great cars to work on into your retirement!!

I am still in the process of finding an EI transformer for the Saska. Not able to locate one.Would appreciate it if someone can point me in the direction of a supplier
Antek
Hi Sene,
Aha, I wondered when you would build the SAKSA!!
Try Antek, you need a 300VA toroid, with two secondaries with identical, independent secondaries rated to 30Vac each.
BTW, I can help you with increasing the bias from 27mV. Email me on my aksa01 -0- optusnet.com.au and I will send pictures!

Sene,
Looks like you have the right model:
AS-3430 - 300VA 30V Transformer - AnTek Products Corp
Are you aware if any of the major component distributors like RS-Pro or Farnell (Newark) deliver to your country?

Sene,
With the distributors I mentioned, you will not find Antek, because as far as I know they sell direct; however, you should be able to find other brands of 300VA (or higher) transformers with 2 x 30V AC secondaries. Then you can compare what would be the cost effective and convenient choice for you.
