That was some impressive numbers.Circlotron said:My 1981 VH Commodore has done 394,000 km. My 1975 HJ Holden Kingswood which is the same car as the HQ mentioned but with nose and tail differences and other minor variations has done 474,000 km. I'm going to give it a party when it hits the 500,000 km point. I've had this one for 10-1/2 years, the other 2-1/2
Even unusual for the Volvos in Sweden. I have had 2 old Volvos.
One Volvo242DL 1975, bought for $400 in 1993.
Solid B20 engine, as was the B18 - they never were worn out.
Sold 1999, three years ago, to a young guy,
who should repaint it and fix it up.
Easy to find second hand repair stuff. There are many 1000s of old 240-series. And the 140-series before.
Heavy kilos Car, took lot gasoline compared to modern cars,
first Swedish Safety Car with extended bumpers.
I liked it very much. Now I have no car. My bike in the summer
and my own legs in the wintertime.
That's life. 🙂

Just to examine the topichalojoy said:I thought we could have a laugh at the expense
of the Companies, we to a considerable part
have helped, by financing them.
Let us make up some good interpretations
to make those marketing terms understood better.
I have a feeling we could fill a whole book,
that would make quite a laughable reading.
A good laugh makes life worth living!
This, for a start, I found on an australian guitarist's homepage.
It is about a magnetic pickup called Lace Sensors,
which he uses.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
The thing I like least about them has nothing to do with the pickups!
It's the bizarre marketing terms that goes with them.
- Here's my interpretation:
Radiant Field Barriers = shield
Acoustic Sensor = magnetic sensor (try talking into one of them - nothing happens!)
Micro Matrix Comb = magnet assembly (spread evenly along the edges of the pickup)
Ultra Precision Micro Winding = coil winding
Iso Biflux Dual Fields = magnetic fields
Frequency Sensitivity = a measurement only (frequency response versus level)
Anti-Microphonics, Anti-Static = mounted on rubber grommets
Low Energy Particle Magnets = weak magnets
I am responsable for this
little thread.
bob4 - you are wrong as far as I can see
we are still focusing on how advertising correspond to reality
and Commodore pass this test
They promise a lot - but lives up to their own words
without cheating money spender - An god example - serves as a contrast
to the bad - rubbish
sorry bob4
complains are to be taken very lightly here
I wish you better "luck" at some other place
cruel words - maybe, maybe not
it is my words - not anybody elses

How much are these BIG type of RED LEDs these days?
I haven't used them for quite some time.
I thought I'd put a 10 or so of them in my speaker enclosure, excuse me,
house.
Would look rather nice hanging in my Windows(t-mark)
at Christmas(X-mark) Time

I'm happy For You Too, Now Go Away.....
Halojoy, don't flatter yourself, or try to flatter me, that we have any relationship - we do not.
Now **** off back to your own thread , and leave the adult subjects to the adults, and go self flagellate on your own all you like without disturbing the knowing ones.

Christians Indeed......
Yup Al, I counted to ten so many times that I lost count of the number of times that I got sick of Mr Day Tripper adding meaningless crap to threads that he has no place being - I mean when did he add something technically meaningful ? - Never ?.
He may think that his intrusions are funny, or that he is contributing to peace on earth, but as is my experience with religious zealots, his direction is misguided and translated as annoyance to others are not interested in the 'The Word' that he has discovered.
Like the prick who deliberately took the parking spot outside my shop last Saturday (reserved with a box and sign saying so, and important to me and my customer for a heavy load in), and when I looked in his car guess what - Bibles and religious pamphlets all over the seats - hardly a Christian act in my understanding.
And like the Born Agains who live over the road from my girlfriend's place and hold bible parties till late, and then parked on their lawn, with motors running, talk for another hour or more till past midnight.
A few weeks ago an aged lost dog was moping around, needing a drink and shade - as I was inspecting the dog's collar and found the owners phone number, two young daugters from the household in question came over.
They said that the dog had been around for a few hours.
I pointed out the phone number and asked if they had phoned the owner.
They replied "We asked dad if we could phone the owner, and he said 'leave it out on the road and let it get killed' ".
Again hardly a Christian act, and what message is he giving to his daughters ?.
No prizes for guessing who gave the dog shade and a drink, and phoned the very relieved owner.
In my experience some so called Christians make the biggest hippocrates, make the most noise about it and actually do nothing much more than give annoyance.
