The arrestor provides a sonic signal that you are approaching the limits of the driver's excursion.

Yes. Mostly. The arrestor will prevent some damage if really pushed but it primamrily an audible warning.

Would have loved this feature before I killed the cones of four pairs of the Gen 1 CHR-70. The CHR-70 was one of my favorite fullrange drivers at the price point they sat in. Glad to see they moved forward and addressed the issues they had and found a suitable solution.
