6.5" small one. And low sensitivity, but because driven active doesn't matter, it can get 70W,as opposed to CHR which probably gets 1/3 that

The arrestor provides a sonic signal that you are approaching the limits of the driver's excursion.

So it only serves as an audio-alarm, it doesn't actually prevent the coil from overexcursion?

Yes. Mostly. The arrestor will prevent some damage if really pushed but it primamrily an audible warning.

Would have loved this feature before I killed the cones of four pairs of the Gen 1 CHR-70. The CHR-70 was one of my favorite fullrange drivers at the price point they sat in. Glad to see they moved forward and addressed the issues they had and found a suitable solution.
