Hi Brent
Must try the bigger output transistors some time.
Would you say they come before the bridge mod or changing the pot?
I've still got the original pot in my KI and Audiocom told me it would be a good upgrade. What do you think?
Any more thoughts on the monster machine since you got it home?
Jim

Hi
I have not fitted the transistors in my amp yet only in my test one.
The pot is probably the most important of the three. The bridge is cheap and easy to do so there are no excuses not to do it 😉
The pot is my next upgrade

I ordered some BGs from Audiocom. The status of my order didn't change for weeks and I emailed them a couple of times asking about it and they didn't reply. I then sent a final email demanding a refund. They didn't reply to that either but the goods arrived the very next day!
Only to be used as a last resort from now on.

Absolutely agree. I had a similar experience with some large iron dust core inductors I ordered from them. They completely ignored me and after one telephone call I was promised them. Nothing happened so I rang again. The guy running this is not on top of things at all (I reckon it's the one bloke). Maybe he needs a 2nd or third employee to get things done.

Odd this. My mate bought a bargain bundle type thing off ebay from them - +5v Invisus, some anti-vibration sheeting, Superclock II, Silver plated wire for £100. The guy emailed and said there will be a delay and sent him a Superclock4 instead of a superclock II as compensation! He only waited a couple of weeks for the lot!
What does anyone think about supplying the AN7062 with its own dedicated supply?
Lee.
Your mate got a fair deal there Lee. They're "focussing on different things" apparently. I'll not forget how they treated me, and after spending many hundreds with them previously.

I bought the none motorised version from Hifi Collective. Hopefully it will fit ok and I can mount a motor myself.
(when I say mount a motor it was not a sex move Simon)

I have thought of this, but have wondered about how it all ties up with the output section. It is all interlinked, iv'e had no success with the discrete section as yet as the AN drives the output with +/- 44V
Mine with the big caps large VA and the large BG for the AN smoothing should be pretty good and hard to beat.

Reckon Simonty went a bit pale there old lad!!!
I had similar experiences with Audiocom when they were "shifting the focus of the business"
Waited weeks in between phone calls, always told be there shortly. The order was for BG's and some silver wire for the signal path inside the amp.
When I started getting shirty he advised me that they had had bad experiences with their silver wire and upgraded my order to some very nice teflon coated gold plated on silver wire at no extra charge as a goodwill gesture.
I think you're probably right on the button. He's a nice guy but think he's grown really quick and struggling to keep up. They started importing some exotic Chinese CDP's built like battleships.
Think I'll defo stick with my loverly 63KI thanks!!
Still in love with your discrete stage?
Keep thinking about it for myself but 1) Bit daunting for my experience 2) Bit expensive for really good quality parts and 3) Trying to do loads of other mods as well.

Sorry a bit OT
Ah well, I'll get there but 3 young kids doesn't help!
I'm absolutely in love with the discrete stage! Shame my player stopped working altogether yesterday. It seems as if the mech connector is to blame but I've ordered a new laser to help out too. It seems to be the original one so it's about time it got a fresh part.
When it works the sound is just stunning: dynamic, rich, weighty and detailed. Not like CD is generally perceived to sound at all.
I reckon it cost me £50 for good quality parts. Cheap considering the musical joy it brings. It does sound similar to the LM4562 op-amps, but with soul and a wider tonal palette.
You need to hassle someone else to get a PCB sorted. Installing the thing is straightforward (although I managed to break something in mine, not related though.)

Brent that looks the dogs............
What you say ties in with the guy from Audiocom then.
As I have to work to a budget I think I should probably keep working on my source with the regs and stuff so that I get the full benefit when I spend on the amp again. Thanks for the updated mods list.
Sorry - OT again!!

You've probably done well to get this far on the connectors Simon.
You're always at it
from what I can see when I get chance to browse the thread.
Don't really know anyone for a PCB unfortunately
I was thinking of trying p to p on veroboard but don't know if the lack of a ground plane would be a problem.
