I have thought of adding cd text. The cd6000 would probs be the donor unit as it has the added cd text pcb and matrix tube. I have also thought of re-casing and making it a top loader but then I also like the wolf in sheeps clothing side of things.
I have a few more psu updates to do on mine first

CD5000 does it too I think. Cheaper donor unit too.

new op-amps woopie! On the subject of esthetics (Poynton) I have often thought about this. I hate the look of my 67'. I was thinking along the lines of removing the face plate along with the buttons and their circuitry, and keeping only the display, the on-off button and remote sensor. It would mean I guess replacing it with either a wooden one or creating a new metal one, since I assume no cast off from another machine would fit. Neither option is within my capabilities since I guess removing the circuits for the buttons is not as simple to do as to say... I am thinking along the lines of making a nice hardwood case, something like in the new classic-look line from Luxman. That's do-able even if it does mean keeping the wretched black-on-black front.
At this point, I'd like to remain quiet for fear that i don't share the same sense of humour as some!!

The overall VA of the transformers should go up from 272VA to approx 425VA with the next tweaks
Which is nice

I'm up at 439VA at the moment, lol.
Mainly because I've used whatever I had in the drawer. My output stage tx came from an old Arcam integrated amp.
Lee.
No, I don't 🙁
I have 2 transformers in my Arcam Alpha and 4 mounted off-board. They're not marked for VA but it probably totals about 300VA. You win 🙁

Well we all know VA is king when it comes to sound quality and i'm trying to get the last bits out of this player
Brent
It seems to be important for getting the dynamics out of it, and the quality regs are too but they also offer so much more besides good dynamics.
Lee's old player will need big VA simply to work but the Alpha is a bit lighter. It has a much more piddly servo and only CDM4, rather than the meatier CDM1.

mines powered by a Flux Capacitor!
Looks nice when its on but the Mrs hates the Delorean parked in the front room!!!

The servo section on the cd94 is incredibly discrete. No all-in-one IC's, but opamps and driver transistors.
It's now properly a two-box machine and easily the best source I've ever owned.

I thought the CD94 was the same as a CD40?
