Hi Brent -thank you for being there all the time
i basically follow Ray list-plus Kwak clock -HDAM bypass with 47R resistor- The op-amp caps are ZL 680uF/16V. Quan.,the power at U199 is 5.09 V. Quan.

No problem
It seems you still have the HDAM in use, as 300mV is the approx v out before dc blocking caps.
Have you removed R651 652 653 654 & C655 656 657 658?

I'd check the opamp supply rails. I remember having neg voltage out of the opamps with one of the 12v supplies not connected
Lee.

Hi Quan. The same way you checked u199.
Measure the voltage at pins 4 & 8 on the opamps. These pins are fed from u208 & u209 just above the opamps.

Yep that's the next thing to check.
Too much voltage difference between the + and - regs and the opamp will output the difference from the lowest V to the largest V.
So I would say the +12V reg is lower voltage than the negative.

Hey, Hey. I was right! Postive 12v reg needs sorting.
That's a first, lol.😀
Just for info, I fixed the reg on my discrete. It was also a positive reg, so I replaced it with an S-Power. The gains were very, very impressive. Loads more tonal detail etc.
I have also just changed my superclock2 for a superclock4. I got this real cheap, but it had panasonic fc's and oscons😡
I replaced them with BG FK's and Nx Hi-q's and fitted. It is better than the 2, smoother more natural presentation with a wider soundstage, but there's no way I'd pay anything like full-price for it.

Hi Lee , good to hear the changes worth all the dough- i would love to be able to do the discrete output but it is way out of my league at the moment. I can only solder the component but can't follow the schematics to build .
BTW-the machine now refused to read the disc-thelaser trying to focus but not doing anything- Geez!!!
So the problem is the 12 V reg- where do i go from here. Thanks Quan.

Whoops!
With the power off measure the 12V to ground to see if there is a a low ohm leak.

Swap the 7812 for another and see if it's the same or not. It will probably be quicker to do that.

Brent
Hi Brent- replace 7812- u208 now measured 11.8V-so it was the 12V reg that gone dead, now have to deal with laser. Quan
PS-the laser is unpredictable ,sometimes it refuses to play-look like time for a change?, can still have TOC but refuse to spin.
Thank you -Brent and Lee, BTW -time for sleep ,got to go to work tomorrow- it is midnight in Oz now.

Check the ribbon connection between main pcb and cd mech pcb.
What noise does the laser make?
Does the disc spin?

Hi Brent,
The disc sometimes recognised and sometimes not. ,check ribbon-ensure tight fit. ?laser life.Quan.
it is temperamental-now it is spinning but don't know how long before it gives up.

How crisp des the laser sound. Does it track ok.
The connector on the main pcb causes lots of problems
