Thomo said:Very nice Brent. How much does that thing weigh?
My invisus is feeding +5v to dac through u200 and decoder through r511 - both analogue i think. Is this the best place for it?
It weighs 8.42Kg LOL.
Thats exactly where my invisus is wired.

Brent, I am looking at your mods pdf and your pics, and to be quite honest without very detailed instruction I daren't do it!

LOL
There is a lot of work involved. Best bet is to do one part at a time.
You dont have to go as mad as I did interms of all the caps and pre regs. You can add pre regs in afterwards.
Getting the DAC on its own regs fully is a must for me. You should find building the servo clock easy.

Fitting one really good uber reg to run all the 5v rails does not bring the gains 4 seperate 7805 regs on the dac brings. You already have part of it done so thats good

I have three extra lm317 based 5v regs to feed dac😉
For the servo, I think I see how to run the clock out of Superclock into the divider through 100r resistor. Do you just then run the clock out of the divider into pin 19 on TDA1301?
Lee.

Coolio
And yes. Keep the run from the ic to the servo as short as poss and dont forget to remove the 1M res.
Do you have a frequency counter?

Also take a 5v tapping off the invisus and wire to analogue 5v of decoder. Do the same for the digi 5v on decoder from the reg that feeds rd04.

Err no.
I don't really know what that is to be honest.
Is it to make sure the frequency you're sending to the servo is correct? Is the mod risky without it?
Lee.

The fact that mine smoked (terrible smell) was probably not related to doing this mod. Be careful with it and you're really not likely to damage the player. Right, Brent? lol
Its so you can measure the freq yes. But a wrong freq wont hurt it it just wont read discs. LOL
Simon somehow put 5V+ onto the servos clock input. The servo was not happy. It went on strike

If it doesnt read you can drop the crystal and caps back in.
I'll let you send the pcb to me and i'll check it for you.

With this - (the pic is of Simons servo clock freq = exactly half of the Dac freq).

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

That's great, thanks.
I'll give it a go, as long as I can revert to original state if it doesn't work i'll be ok.
By the way i have had another look at that pesky '53. Just shorted two pins on q105 and laser now does something. It jumps up and down like the clappers, sounding like a err... clapper.

Here I've found something to build my Raygulators 😉
Again, do I need to make 3 in order to split 5V rails? The one with wich LM? 317? Do the SuperRaygulators still improves the sound?
lol brent you sure that thing has enough decimal places. I reckon 10 would be more accurate 😉
O and your sites looking good now too. Have to love the comment by some guy from sheffield called simon 😀 😀
Well on another forum ive got someone very interested in modding a cd-63, and a few other lurkers have come out of the woodwork expressing interest in these players. I directed most of them here and to your site, or to shoot you an e-mail about what you could do for them, as i don't think many of them have a lot of diy experience and your modding service is the best around, especially compared to audiocom's daku.

"The results of using the S-Power in my pre-amp are phenominal! I now have a lower noise floor, more realistic instrument textures, much better dynamics and a sound that draws me into the music like never before!" Simon Sheffield

LOL yes its uncanny he is from sheffield and called Simon.
To be honest he was being honest about the S Power regs. Simon is one to tell it how it is and would certainly tell me if they were not up to scratch!!!
And thank you very much for pointing people our way

Thar's a reight cheeky sod! lol

Of course it is me and yes I have bought some and installed them in my pre-amp, and truly there is not one negative thing I can say about the sound changes! Of course it's going from 7815/7915, which are pants.
My discrete output will be powered by another set of these babies too 😉
I've just been pointed to these

Hehe ye very uncanny. i would love to try your s-power regs, but are well out of my price range atm, as im using my xmas money to get my grado's woddied up in zebrawood and recabled 😀
And thank you very much for pointing people our way![]()
Glad to help, you've certainly helped me through enough installations and problems. Plus il hopefully be sending you my player for modding sometime as im scared of kiling this one, especially with the servo mod, and coax mods (like i did before). Plus im sure il want some tx's to power my regs, replace the I-E tranny, and replace my clock PSU atm.
Id much rather pay a professional to do it.
