I live among them too remember! but around even Bose is unknown and the one French audiophile neighbor is very "convinced" of our quest for perfection.
The Isotech cd is a very composed kind of pink noise, covering all frequencies and pulses and modulations etc.

A burden, a big burden... Luckily there are also some people that are on the same "wavelength"!

One first impression is rather vague I'm afraid...the word "musculaire...viril" comes to mind. I'm waiting for the spacial bloom to happen. It's too soon I guess. The red diodes are very sexy! that's what counts.............
You need about four weeks for the DOS to settle in, it is doing exactly the same thing as the Bursons do. The red leds are on the SPowers 😉 which also need to burn in a little.

Sounds like a typical case of very upgraded player needing that bit of extra time to warm up, run in, settle down after being messed with. Annoyingly normal unfortunately, happens more the more you upgrade but it will come good!

Hi Brent
My Spowers do not have that special red glow on them 😕
Hi shepperd
Would you post some pics of the upgraded player ?
Ricardo, it's only the 2nd revision SPowers that have the LED! I have just one, it is quite cool.
It's just prettier and has space for an SMD cap to go across the feedback resistor (to quell audible noise when used on simple analoge circuits). I don't think any important parts are changed. I think it's a touch wider physically, but still easy to fit in tight spaces. It's my ninth Spower or Super Regulator in my machine now 😉
Damn! I posted a reply and forgot to log-on. Pretty diodes: stay lit even when you unplug...BIG bad caps holding juice. Pictures? I'm lazy and I don't know how to post a hi-rez photo! and it means taking stuff apart. I'll try...I expect a long rollercoaster ride this time. The player is in shock. I'm hearing things but it's too soon to make sense of. The bass is quite shy and holding back. The treble is very extended, the mids very energetic. There's a longish road to travel yet. Just so you know what I'm listening with: a delicious ICE-based integrated amp courtesy of Panamaniac and J. Sorento (of Wyred), Transmission line speakers from Holland, wires from KCI and Grover Huffman, depending on my mood, and of course the sheep in wolf's clothing aka Marantz. T'aint hi-end but not too shabby!
...Transmission line speakers from Holland...
You can't go wrong with stuff from Holland... 😀

Transmission lines are amazing and while we toast Holland, let's not forget a very gifted diy'er and author of the caps test, Tony Gee of Humblehifi.
As for good guys there I have to add Jan Didden who was great in my case!
Let's stop global warming in order to save that kingdom!

Jan Didden came to the 2007 UK meet and gave a talk about amplifier feedback topologies, he's a lovely guy! IIRC he came with Netlist/Hugo who brought wonderful and massive DIY Pass Labs amps!!
Amazing, all that from such a small country below the sea...
And tulips and cheese of course 😀
