Also worth adding that the crystalline structure is imperfect with random encapsulated and free pockets much like a paper cone. The idea being that the best of the paper and best of the metal coned variations is achieved. As far as Mark is aware there are no other driver manufacturers doing this.
Perhaps not the same process, or the exact same results, but a number of manufacturers are doing similar.

Based on my experience with the 7 - all versions of the stock and EnABLed metal, paper and the Gen 1 MAOPs, Scott's "alters the behaviour somewhat..." is a bit of an understatement.

Chris has been very protective of his A7 MAOP. They are very good, how good, i’m not sure, because i have not had any extended time with them. They are very good. In the only side-by-side listening test we did (and they have many more hours on them since then), i found it hard to choose a favorite between them and A7.3eN. The MAOP perhaps a bit more neutral. At some point i would like to get my hands on a pair to EnABL. Mark has offered a rejected cone to experiment on before working on the real thing. Applying spots to the metal Alpair cones the surface is the smoothest and easiest to work with of all the drivers i have done, the test unit would allow some experimentation on the “ceramic” of the MAOP.

Edit: Thanx Chris.

Touched down in Tokyo this morning, and I am walking through Akihabara to manage my jetlag. Just dropped by at Koizumi Musen, and they still have some MAOP 7's and 10's in stock. So it seems like the last production run is not yet sold out. They look quite the business with their matte white cones, perhaps I'll give them a listen. Although I have no intention to disembark on another speaker project, I must say they tempt me...
Any updates on the users of the MAOP 10 drivers?
Did anyone complete the 800 hours break-in period?

Hi,
Would anyone direct me to a site or link where I can follow the experiences with the MAOP 10 drivers?
I have got mine and have completed the 800 hour break-in.
Would like to interact with the users of these drivers and share my experience as well.
thanks .....

Dear,naca5
What is FH?
Flugel Horn or Front Horn?
Sorry,I have never heard Flugel Horn.
Rear Horn is more better at classical and instrumental music.

FH are tapped BLH horns. The choke point is a trick from Paul Klipsch.
Not sure what you ar etrying to do by removing the horn mouth. Someone tired to commercialize a version simialr to what you did at the top. The horn mouth is important. The one at the bottom would just screw things up.

As Dave notes, they're designed from the outset as tapped hypex horns with an internal low-pass choke (after Olson) to filter off unwanted output above 300Hz.
