Making a blind choice...

So I've got a 3 way build about to begin... And my midrange is a JBL 2251 10" mid and the plan was to use what I have on hand... That includes either a pair of Selenium D220ti or Celestion CDX1-1745 drivers and these 2 waveguides/horns:

Or

I'm guessing I want to keep the width of the waveguide closest to the woofer, and the one has a lower C2C distance. As I've not figured out anything other than my midwoofer and bass woofer, I was curious if there was a set of drivers and waveguides that stood out as the obvious choice to start with.

I am starting active and want to make a passive crossover for the MT section, and will be taking measures etc. Just wondering where the best jumping off point is. Thanks

The B-52 waveguide from Parts Express is very good. I am using it myself on a large 2 way active system with a Radian 650 CD and a JBL 2217 woofer. However it's probably not the best choice to mate with a 10" mid. Indeed, the DDS waveguide might not be much better. With a 10" mid you probably want to cross over to the tweeter at about 1.3kHz (assuming you want roughly 90° directivity). Maybe even a tad higher. So a smaller waveguide (like this: https://www.parts-express.com/Dayto...-12-Waveguide-1-3-8-18-TPI-270-318?quantity=1 ) might be a better choice.

I have no direct experience with either of the two CDs you have, but given the relatively high crossover frequency neither one should have much trouble. If I had to choose, I'd start with the Celestion based on what I've read.

Whatever you do, do not throw away those B-52 waveguides. I'll happily take them off your hands for another project I have in mind 🙂

I'd love to find like a JBL 2407 or something but NLA...
JBL 2408, 2408H-1, 2408H-2.

Are all JBL own development of 2407 which BMS made for them, different phaslugs in 08 and 08H-1. 08H-2 idk.
The diaphragm and chamber is different between 2704 and 2408.

The PHRN waveguide is great with a bolt on driver, and there is a lot of builds with it to look up on the net.
