Well, not much, except that it is wrong. There is no phase shift in capacitors.

Do you say that a capacitor, inductor or resitors act the same way with AC applied? That would be interesting.
R4 / R104
Hi Nico.
In your last schematic, R4 and R104 have different value: 4,7k and 22K...

If I would like to run this (without the RIAA correction) on +- 30V rails instead of 50V witch resistorvalues have to be changed, and how do I calculate the new values?

Overdriving a tape machine
Hello Nico,
My boss gave me a task to find circuit that could overdrive a Tascam 8 track tape machine. We need something that can amplify the signal to, at least, 25-30 dBu (it doesn't need to be exact value). I think your circuit could do it.
We love it when we overdrive it, it just sound different and I thought: "this guy will understand it!".
Until now, we were using Focusrite Isa 828, but it's not enough.
So, would you be so kind and help me adopt the schematic for something like that?
I would gladly use BD 139/140- used them before- liked them!
+/- 38V like your design will be enough I think. All unbalanced ofc 🙂
It would be something like this:
RME Fireface out -> *your circuit idea* -> (10 kohms) Tascam input
Thank you!

John

Hello PRR, thank you for your answer,
do you have any other idea? I would be grateful for other solutions.
Can't say I have enough experience in such matter.
Cheers.

:Hi Nico,
do you still have the gerbers 13 years later?
:--))
I would like to give your pre a try.
