I just want to try a more tube like, more linear, more musical sounding design (Just add your favorite adjetive)... I live in a "RAT RACE" atmosphere in the states and I work in a coorperate #$%^&* all day long! This petty behavior dosent really sound like politics but it's starting to feel like it. It sounds more like a disire to pull it off responsibly and fairly but the rules of doing this are not defined??? And, then there are all of us, taking jabs at whomever to sway things their/our way??? I feel good enough being up front... Just lucky I guess... But I don't have to tell some of you that I don't need this Bologna(nothing Italian intended)... If I want politics, I'll figure out how to put these things in a switching supply and ask for samples during the day. That's what I do! and I'll probably get them... This is my after work time and I don't even want to hear the word politics. I also am not going to think about an SMPS application to support anyone but my employer or me...
O.K. Havent some of you done this before??? I'm relatively new to this society but I realize the responsibility and feeling of sticking your neck out to the tune of 2-4K bucks... How can we solicit the experience or leadership we need to resolve this useless jabbing each other and move towards the real goal here??? If the people who got us this far don't feel comfortable enough to go further, I respect that and I thank them for getting us here. It appears they are now being part of the blame for nothing happeng???
I really want to give everyone the answer too, but I don't have it. Some people may be like me and want "that many" to avoid the difficulties next time!!!
I've never really come strait out and asked N.P. a question but I'm going to now (and it's not even technical). Nelson, May we have your 2Cents? What do you think is the most equitable solution??? It seems to me, your name should almost be in Capital letters, at least on this forum. And your tremendously congenial attitude is beyond reproach. What do you think we shoukld do??? Sorry, and Thanks...

Why on earth do you think Nelson would want to get involved in childish bickering? 😉

:cop:

Guys, as I said, please don't post until we know more info. I am tempted to close this thread until Moe asks me to open it up again.

Just like I said. Other than the long tailed pair guy who cant understand X theory, N.P. has the utmost in respect here. Everyone listeneds to him! And from what I read, we could all gain alot from him in many ways. How many go right to his posts first, just because it is him?

Due to unforseen complications and a family problem i will not be
running this group buy. I feel the scope of this project has moved
beyond my capabilities.

I have forwarded all contact information to Grataku.

I apologise to everyone for how things turned out. My mistake was
not obtaining all the information from the Lovoltech rep before hand,
in order to set up the Wiki properly.

I'm sure more capable hands will be able to pull this off.

Manila

Good Morning

The 1K-4999 pcs price is US$0.94. We have a US$ 1K min line item, US$ 1K min order and US$ 1K min shipment. (The LU1014D has shipping multiples of 75 pcs.) Therefore, a min order actually is 1050 pcs.

I would recommend the LD1014D for reflow soldering but the LD1014D has a shipping multiple of 2500 pcs. Price is the same.
I know that we did temp cycling in our original qualification process but I don't know if we maintained the detailed data. I will check and let you know.

We originally developed the power J Fet for the motherboard market (One of the largest discrete transistor market in the world) Because of the quantities involved we did not set up a US distribution network. I am presently in negotiations with two US distributors but that will take a little longer than you will require.

Reflow will depend on your soldering temps and profiles. The
motherboard mfgs have reflowed millions of pcs per month and have had no problems.

Regards
Shawn Fogarty"

Well, I can wait for the US distribution. Projects usually take me a few years anyway.
However, if the GB goes ahead I am still in.
Thanks, Moe for trying to get this going. We all understand how it got a little out of hand - I don't see a lot of people clamoring to run it.

Hi,
since Moe's out it comes back to me, I guess.
There are three choices:

1) I do the GB
2) someone else volunteers
3) we drop the whole thing

Would it make people happy to make it a for profit deal?
Be my guest.

Whatever makes people happy. Your choice.

I seriously doubt that anyone is jumping up and down shouting, "I want to pay more for the same part...I want to pay more for the same part..." I offered to do one round--perhaps more--simply to ease things for the people who wanted more or less than some arbitrary forced quantity--or who arrived late for the group buy. For me to justify the time (which will have to be taken from my writing time--Stan wants changes on Double Dead, so there's one commitment, and I've got to get Super Gyro polished and out the door, so there's two, not to mention getting a couple more stories off the ground...etc.) I'll want to tag a margin onto the parts price.
Fair? Fair for whom? I've got a two year-old daughter I watch during the day (that's Mr. Mom to you, bub!) whilst trying to write, do a little electronics (like, for instance, a few power JFET circuits I've been working on), and the usual things, then work a full 8 hour shift at night. I average 4-6 hours of sleep per night if I'm lucky. For some odd reason, no one ever seems to volunteer to take care of my leaky faucets for me. People ask why I can't just give up TV in order to get more time. Well, I did...thirty-five years ago. And a whole bunch of other things, too. I'm running damn near flat-out now. I can and will do this if people want me to, but I've got to balance it against the writing time I'll lose. Don't like it? Come fix my wife's headlights for me (intermittent [open] short in the wiring somewhere) and we'll talk about it.
Someone wants to do a group buy? No problem. Just let me know details. In the meantime, the whole process looks like a hairball to me. Moe29, you have my sympathy, fella.
Dumb ol' me...I thought my way might be simpler, albeit costing more to the buyer. I'll try to do whatever works.

Hi all !

I just want to get hold of some FETs.
If it´s a GB. Fine.
If someone does it on a private basis, and earns a little money for his efford. Thats fine with me too.
I dont think we should let opinions and sceaming and shouting get in our way.
Basically we want the FETs, as far as I can see.

Cheer up ! 🙂

Thorsten

Grataku,

If I understand correctly, you are willing to do the group guy instead of Moe yourself.

That would be great with me and I suppose with most of us.
If you do it, I suggest you should take some small amount, like $ 5 for each order to pay for your work - I would not consider such an amount as a profit. This would be of course in addition to whatever cost you would have with shipping, packing, and Paypal comission on the money received.

YOU decide what quantity and to whom you want to distribute the VFETs - eg. up to what quantity or up to what place on the Wiki list... Pls. let not get again into discussions on the list what way to do it! If you wait for all the money to come to you first, before purchasing the VFETs, you would not have to put down any money on your own.

I fully agree on Thorsten, who said the following:

Grey,
this may sound like a big surprise to you but my life's no better than yours or better than just about everyone with a family and job. I appreciate that you got the writer's touch for modern urban drama and that makes for entertaining reading. 😉

When I started the thread I didn't imagine the demand would be so enormous and that lovoltech would have that screwball COD deal. For me that would mean collecting all the money, transfering the money from paypal to the bank, produce some kind of cashier check to give to the delivery guy after having missed work.

If you are serious about doing it step up to the plate and state your terms.
