Okay, I'll get in touch with Lovoltech and see what can be done. The COD thing doesn't bother me, although I agree that it's a little weird.
Be patient.

Halo,
Is the group buy going to be still valid? I don't have much time to follow this thread every day to see if so. It's easy to get lost. Is the Wiki page and orders written there still actual or there will be no group buy?

Bartek,
There will be obviously no group buy the way things stand right now.
But there will be perhaps someone offering the VFETs as a small business venture.

As far as I know, I am 'it' at the moment.
I'm working on details. Rather than present partial information, thereby sparking yet another round of speculation and confusion, I'm going to wait until I have all the pieces of the puzzle in hand before proceeding.
Patience.

Is this still the case??? Grey???
A favorite pastime during my Holiday time off is focusing on speaker building or elctronics... I guess I still have a "variation" or two to finish but, those Power JFETs would have been fun...
Hope everyone enjoys Happy Holidays
Thanks

Okay, here we go...
I have confirmed pricing and quantities with Lovoltech. I have looked over the basic shipping options. I have rolled bones, swirled tea leaves, flipped coins, and all the other silly things that you do what facing something like this.
Here's what I propose:
1) I will front all the money to finance a bulk buy of the Lovoltech LU1014D. No one needs to put up any earnest money.
2) Pricing will be as follows: (this probably won't work cleanly as a table--just use your imagination)
Qty. Price ea.
1 $1.69
20 $1.49
100 $1.39
200 $1.33
1000 $1.29
All prices in US dollars (not Australian, Canadian or other dollars--had some doodlebug try to pay me $AU for an ebay purchase a while back--bad Juju), cash on the barrel head. Personal checks okay. When your check clears the bank, the JFETs ship. My bank is the final arbiter as to whether a check is good or not. Sorry, no PayPal or credit cards.
3) No minimum order requirement. You want 1, you get 1. You want 37, you get 37. You get the quantity you order. It's that simple.
4) No handling fees or other oddities. The price listed above is it.
5) Shipping will be pretty much at cost and as cheap as we can arrange it. For US (and possibly Canadian & Mexican) buyers, I can mail parts in a standard business envelope with minimal padding. They're small, fairly robust, and lightweight. This means that an average buyer will be looking at a few cents for an index card to tape the things to, a few cents for an envelope, and $0.37 for US postage (although this is due to go up in the near future). If you want the added cushioning of a padded envelope, that will probably add something like $0.75 to shipping. All told, an ordinary buyer here in the US will be looking at about $0.50 shipping if you go the envelope route. Nearly everyone will get out for less than a buck.
As I've said elsewhere, these things are about the size of your pinky fingernail. Even people who want 100 devices should fit into the envelope category.
I will try to accomodate anyone who wants UPS, FedEx, carrier pigeon, etc. but please try to be reasonable. The weirder it gets, the more hassle it will be for me, and the more it will cost you.
6) No refunds. If the parts get smashed in shipment, return them and I will send replacement parts.
7) No, I will not match the parts for you. Sorry.
8) I will handle North America. David Briggs (dhole) has offered to handle European distribution. If you live in Europe, talk to him. No other arrangements have been made yet.
9) Availability is somewhat vague. I was told "stock to four weeks." I'm not clear as to whether there is stock available here in the US ready to go or whether it will be a month before they show up. Keep in mind that we're on top of Christmas, followed closely by New Years. For all I know, Lovoltech takes the last two weeks of the year off. That will presumably extend the time frame even further. Again, your patience will be appreciated.
10) This is going to be a pain in the butt. I reserve the right to cuss. If harsh words offend you, cover your ears. Considering that the Powers-That-Be have installed filters here, most of my cussin' and fussin' will be rendered as *'s anyway. Given that I don't use words that you haven't already heard a thousand times at the movie theater, you'll probably live through it.
11) Thanks for hanging in there this long, folks, but there's light at the end of the tunnel. Hopefully it isn't the oncoming train.
Mull this over. Make comments. Ask questions. If there's anything I have neglected to cover, I will try to get it taken care of. If this seems palatable to enough people, I will post in the Trading Forum to make it official and place the order next week.
Bear in mind that Nelson has other power JFET projects in the pipeline. Not that I can compete with him, but I've already got one, perhaps two projects nearly ready to go. Given time and parts to experiment with, I'm sure that others will weigh in with other projects. This promises to be a really interesting opportunity. Let's make the most of it.

Paypal also helps a lot the transactions , the shipping addresses are included in them . It just need a prepayed credit card to get access to it .Cannot cost u more than 5 bucks ... pretty easy , fast and secure.
Yep, I made a lot of payments, back and forth, with Paypal. They are better than your own bank🙂Paypal also helps a lot the transactions , the shipping addresses are included in them . Grey,
Thanks so much for doing this groupbuy! You are our Santa.
I am in for 25, at 20 for $1.49 that's = 37.25 U$ + shipping about 2.00 $
for Canada = 39.25U$ .
I'll go to my bank and will send a check for 40.00U$.
PS: I need your address to mail it...
Regards.
Alain.

As I indicated in email, one of the pieces I have in the
queue is a procedure for matching / selection of the JFETs.
Having tested a few hundred now, I have some stats and a
sense of the Vgs range. If you wish to build one of the existing
or upcoming designs which will use cascode modulation to
trim the load line for minimum distortion, you will want to
arrange the values around the JFET for best performance, and
part of that will be knowing what the Vgs versus Vds versus
Ids is for a given device.
When I get it just right, I'm seeing as low as .003% THD at 1
watt on the F3's, which I consider pretty spectacular.
It's a simple enough selection procedure, so I recommend that
you perform the test and raise the price for your trouble.
😎

Aparently our friends from USA all feel it would be too much hassle for them to sell/distribute overseas. DHOLE, will you pls. announce if you will handle the European distribution and if yes, how do you intend to do it. Half the pre-orders on the Wiki were from people from Europe...

PayPal= No
The idea is a non-starter with me. I do business on ebay only three or four times a year and it's simply not worth it to me to have that sort of money in my "ebay account." Yes, there are a few other times and places where it's possible to use PayPal, but they aren't even on my radar. I keep hearing reports of trouble when people want their money out in the real world instead of in PayPal's coffers. Yes, I know it's convenient for you, but not for me...
Sorry, but that one is not flexible.
Matching= Grumble, grumble, mutter, mutter...
I'll think about it.
Europe= David
If he dumps, perhaps someone else will step up to the plate.
Patience folks, patience. We're setting up a monster endeavor here, which would be fine if it were going to be a going concern, but this will almost certainly be short-lived, meaning that (eventually) Lovoltech will appoint a distributor or three and you'll be buying from them. I view this as a stopgap measure. No one will be more surprised than me if I'm still at this six months from now.
Keep the questions and comments coming, folks. I want to know what I've missed before I get into this, not afterwards.
