love and respect for all of the great minds here.

This thread has shown, like many similar threads, that people have
weak spots and it doesn't matter if you're an expert, a less knowledgeable
DIYer or a nutcase like myself. Vanity.

To all those who celebrate, Merry Christmas and take it easy!:xmas:

Many of the great physicists have laboured in vain if one looks at some of the commentary from "audiophiles".

It feels as if there are DIY folk that like to believe in the fantasy side of audio (I'm not referring to those trying to make a buck out of it) and don't take kindly to having the magic taken away. You do believe in Father Christmas ? 🙂

Well, I'll go back to mega respect for some of the folks here, particularly the ones that really know what they are talking about but don't get too concerned if it doesn't get accepted by everyone else.

You know who you are.🙂

(or at least you think you know...:joker:

Happy holidays, all

Some of the sharpest people I have seen in my life are here on this forum. I am slso a pilot andhanger rat type of guy The sheer IQ level here not even taking into account theamount of knowledge is far above even the aviation crowd. Pilots and Aircraft maintanance people know very little about the air they fly in. People here know much more.

I just caught up with this thread, and while it's still open I want to take this chance to kiss up to, er, I mean thank the Mods for their work, as they are in large part responsible for this forum being as good as it is. I thought maybe someone else in thre thread would have given them some credit by now, but moderators, especially good ones, are too often unsung heroes.

They were even good enough to demonstrate their work in this very thread! ;-)

I used to hang around a flight sim forum (I had a 5 box sim network). Some of the members were real pilots (and could fly well). In those years there was very little physics discussion (even though many built their own models) so with little to talk about the whole thing began to seem off topic.

Yes, they are the unsung heroes that keep this place from degenerating into an ego contest, despite the intents of a few. Can you spell AA

"Why do you put yourself through that!". I've heard it from other people as well, including my wife!

I would like to thank those who appreciate my "blowing stuff up so that they don't have to." My wife doesn't understand why I do it, but I don't understand why she spends equal (or more) time on Facebook.

I had two professors who once physically attacked eachother in the corridor

There was a very smart (technically) guy at work who enjoyed verbally ripping apart anyone who threatened his dominance of the engineering community in meetings where upper management were present, like a design review of a new product. Again, an ego contest. I found out early in his career (I had already been there 20 years) that he would back down and get rather silent if you challenged him in the same situation.

It comes back to the same thing...much of this stems from a perceived threat to one's ego. Some people will continue to fight just to avoid losing an argument, even if the outcome bears no consequence on the event that started it.

Flight of the Phoenix, 1965

Sounded familiar, so I consulted Google....Yes, I remember that movie. I thought it was in B&W, then I remembered.....in the 60's TV's were B&W. Never saw the remake....didn't even know there was one.

Merry Christmas everyone. This is the only forum I regularly visit but by most internet standards it seems a very civilized place full of interesting ideas. I've seen some serious and quite frankly baffling (excuse the pun) touchiness here and there but I hope it doesn't push anyone of these pages permanently.

So who gets the golden brain award? It sure isn't me, Im only here for tomfoolery. First we should establish some stringent guidelines. It should be a modest genius. Right off the hop that eliminates at least half the genius populace.

I really do appreciate this place. I don't have much to add to some of the more technical discussions that twist my brain ways one should not twist a brain. But I still manage to pick up a few things. I'm being honest here, not trying to be modest just to look good. I probably didn't have to add that last part :hohoho:

This is exactly what most professionals that I know say.

Every industry or hobby is the same. Those that are businesslike are aloof, arrogant. Those that are too friendly are not too bright. Products, are no9tches on a belt. Making taking down a pro, worth more self aggrandize points.

I wont mention who made my pre, as they will take the designer apart. Already happened twice. Same with power.
