I just got 100TH tubes and looking for a sample of good Single End Amp. Try to search around but non are really give good detail. I don't mine if it will drive with Mosfet or transistor.
Any one ever build one or where I can find those info.
Thanks.

100TH datasheet. The section on AB2 AF amplifier and modulator gives some PP operating points. It looks like youd need alot of grid drive for A2 SE.
The 810 is the most similar tube I can think of, 811 has some similar characteristics too, look to amps using those for a general idea.
100TH is a high mu triode intended for use with grid current, so will need some sort of power grid drive, like a mosfet source follower or interstage transformer. It wants a fairly high impedance load too.

The simpliest way is to use it with couple of output transformers, one of them connected reverse to grids, bias on the center tap, and a speaker coil of it is drivewn by a solid state power amplifier.

Wavebourn is right. I`ve used that technique and clip leads on the bench for years to `play` with xmitting bottles in audio output applications. As stated was for P-P and the reversed o/p xfmer becomes the phase splitter but same deal works for SE.
For drive maybe George`s Powerdrive FET circuit from Tubelab is the ticket.
Re: try this
Voltage doubler Hi B+ supply. BOO! Anyone making an amp around a 100TH wants to look at glowing glassware. Supply schematic can easily be tailored to suit.

Thanks for the info. this is really helpful.
I will have to modify a lot and may be I will use Switching Power supply to light up the fillament. 10 Amp each transformer is really big. I try to keep the total weight minimum. Any sample of Mosfet circuit to see.

I'm working on the same idea but i'm reluctant to go higher than 700v /100mA (my PTr and OTr do not carry more than 100mA) . So, it' ll be working DARK PLATE , and not RED DULL . Is that a problem ? (no gettering of the vacuum ) . Any idea ?😕
plate color
They (Eimac triodes) work fine w/o running red or orange plate color. I run 75TH's at a dark plate level (400v @ 25ma or so) and they don't seem to be any issues.

How much power do they / it last ? SE or PP ?
How long did they work "dark plate" ? A2 or A1 mode ??!
cheers 🙂

I just got hold of 2 100TH's too.
Had a look at Astouffers diagrams.
The 6EM8 should be a 6EM7...
Can anybody tell me what kind of output transormer this is??
Thanks!

Hi Eimac
check out this link: www.triodefestival.net/uploads/.../michimori%20(PPTminimizer).ppt
this is a cool way to drive the A2 tubes, if you don't like to use a FET.
best regards
Karsten

Hi Karsten,
A friend of mine built an 811A SE amp adopting the regulator tube drive method to achive 22W output succesfully. He used a SOFTON R-core output transformer.
I think SOFTON RW-40-5(40W) can be use for a 100TH SE amp.

Hi Michi-san,
thank you for the information, I can only see this info about the OPT: ƒ\ƒtƒgƒ“ RW-40-5@o—̓gƒ‰ƒ“ƒX
as you can see it is in japanish writing, do you have a english version?
BTW are you comming to the ETF this year? please bring a the 8025a amp to the ETF.
best regards
Karsten

Karsten-san,
I found some of their english Catalog. I am now asking them English catalog of RW-40-5.
I am afraid, I can not come ETF2011 this year. I hope I will join ETF2012 in Denmark? As I have many old friends in Copenhagen.
Best regards

Kwan-San, long time no see! Hope you are doing OK.
BTW a friend of mine built a 811A SE amp with the regulator tube drive, and the OPT was Softon RW-40-9.5. He used 5K ohm tap and 16 ohm KNF for his 811A amp.
Thank you

I have just received an English Catalog of RW-40-9.5, which is almost same as RW-40-5.

I attempted to replace TANGO XE60-5snf with SOFTON RW-40-5 OPT on my 811A amp and
it was known poor performance observed particulaly in lower frequency range.
Though I do not understand why its happend such difference(refer to #13)
SOFTON refund the money to me, but it is my regret that SOFTON did not respond me with comprehensive explanation sofar.

100th
I started thinking about this 7 years ago and got side tracked with 6EM7 single tube amps. Now, back in the race again.
This diagram works extremely well. gives you about 20W SE triode power.
I'm very happy with it. I used a slightly modified version of the tubecad power drive.
