Hi Frank, yes I got your PM, you have PM😀

Yes, same here - and the packet went out several days ago. Not sure how long for USPS 1st Class Int'l from USA to DK - figure 7-10 business days?

Turns out that the Micanol types I have are all ring-mount, and I know it's difficult to use those without the appropriate punched hole or a saddle plate (needs an index tab or tabs). So I sent two pairs of saddle-mount types, one pr. in black Bakelite and one pr. in a water-clear acrylic or polycarbonate(?) material.

I've only seen the clear sockets once or twice before, usually in 7-pin RF applications. If anyone can shed light on that particular composition, I'd be curious to learn what it's about. For one, it does have a low melting point like most other thermoplastics. Obviously not for high-heat tolerance - so perhaps it's optimized for some other condition(s)?

I have some clear plastic sockets for Loctal and also octal tubes. They are very low heat tolerant. I did not realize this when soldering to an octal socket until the socket pins started to melt thru to the other side! Best to solder this type with a heat sink. But they look kinda cool with a led underneath. cheers

It's best for these if you fit a tube, or a defunct tube base, while you solder these ones - they do work okay and look 'rather smart' - a bit different

I enquired about the 7N7 tubes and adapters for the 6SN7 sockets at Jac's music in Germany - they have quite a list of tubes, sockets and other fancy 'bits' - they've also got a pretty high 'surcharge' and freight costs too!
