Anyway - As a result of a somewhat historic New Year's party I think that I have blown one of my Z-680 satellites' drivers. I have tested other speakers on the same channel and they all work fine. This speaker on all channels (which work fine with the other satellites) is completely dead - no sound whatsoever emanates from it. I have confirmed it is not a cabling issue.
Searching through the forums I have found that Logitech seems to use TangBand drivers and that the specific driver used in the Z-5500 is the TB W3 871S. It however appears different to the drivers in my Z-680's - most importantly that the frame is round, not "squared off" like mine is. I really would like to replace the damaged driver, but am not sure which model to buy - if it is a TangBand. The frame and diaphragm of the W3 926S looks exactly like mine, but the magnet of the W3 871s looks like mine. Does anyone know what exact driver Logitech used in the Z-680's, or what I can replace the damaged one with? Would the W3 871s be OK (the frame would have to be cut to fit the enclosure) or should I go for the W3 926S which would fit without any modification, and has similar (but not exact) specs as the W3 871S? Or is it something else entirely - I have seen an Aurasound NS3-194-8E that looks very similar to my drivers frame and diaphragm, but the magnet is a bit different?

I recently had a dead z-680 sat, turned out to be the tinsel to terminal connection.
Test continuity from tinsel lead to tinsel lead, you should get a little under 7Ω, if you do you can resolder the terminal connection.
If it is blown I think the driver looks like a W4-616S , but it might be cheaper to get a set off ebay?

You could replace the blown satellite with the driver from the centre speaker assuming it is the same(I've taken apart mine before, I *think* it was different) then get different driver for the centre like a 871s

I have searched on Ebay, but no-one is selling individual satellites, rather complete sets which are not cost-effective. Additionally, living in South Africa is a problem, particularly for shipping costs.
I will keep hunting and let you know what I find

Have you contacted Logitech? I did for a faulty keyboard and they were really helpful and finally replaced it without any problem... Maybe they could give / sell the speaker you're looking for?

BTW, I also own a Logitech Z-5500 speaker system. I preferred the crisper sound produced by the Z-680's (especially the bass which is less boomy). Does anyone have any suggestions/comments about the 680's vs the 5500's?

geez I thought my z680 was boomy as it was, I stuff socks down my bass port and dial it way down on the controller.
One of these's days I'll redo the enclosure.
I just check the centre speaker versus the other satellites, it's a different driver on my set.
Another option you have is to get the satellites off the Z560s I'm almost certain they are the same drivers. That's the 4.1 speaker set that is the predecessor of the Z680s. If you can even find them brand new they can be very very cheap.
