I'm sure he had verified his claims by performing DBT's, didn't he ?
@ Davorin: Nothing wrong with your TO-99 chips, you know? Nothing at all. But basically I'm quite sceptical about snake-oilish statements , even if they were done by so-called gurus.
"so-called"? :blink blink:
You tell me whether National Semi were serious about audio quality:

Matter of fact, the Mark Brasfield in the EDN article hangs around these parts once in a while. Look him up under the monicker "audioman54", and he sometimes shows up at Burning Amp. Nice guy. His most recent post happened to discuss the LME49713:

Thanks, DSP-Geek, must admit, I always imagined similar chips being designers quite differently; a bunch of after-high-school geeks trying to do do what they were told to do by the boss. He was something quite different. R.I.P., Bob.

I didn't say that these opamps do not perform very well, did I? Both of your links state this. But they don't differentiate between the DIL8 and TO-99 versions, which was the question here.
Remember that I've bought three dozens of these chips from Davorin. I wouldn't have if I weren't convinced about their properties.
Best regards!
Hello,
I would like 4 pcs LME49710HA and 3 pcs LME49720HA.
Thanks.
You have a P.M. Regards...
Fully agreed !Well, DIP vs TO-99.. IMHO, TO-99 certainly has better RFI shielding..I would say they are better mechanically, vibration and resonance wise. Biggest difference… they look and feel like they are worth 10 times more than DIL OR SMD.
Best regards!
Anyway, “looks and feel beside”, I’m using these chips for a 15 years now..in phonos, preamps, power amps…and would also testify that they sound better, clearly better. I have also stock of these in DIP versions..but don’t use them.
Regards
P.S. Photo of some of my LME49713/49710 MC Phono, with separated power supply.

Thanks, Sachu. Well, Slovenia is the "land of forests" .. and I follow that on my designs. Here are matching “wood” turntable, CD, Mono-amps…
