You are precisely describing my subjective experience with LM1875. "nowhere near as good as my LM3886 amp" - That part I haven't experienced, as LM1875 is my first chip amp build!Unbelievable I built an LM1875 because i was bored Carefully Built to Datasheet specs using Genuine (not chinese shite parts) with a good Torroid type Powersupply. Sounds Pretty good to be honest .
But Nowhere near as good as my Lm3886 amp And definitely not even similar soundwise to my Firstwatt amp.
Lm 1875 is a good computer desktop sound... IF the speakers are of Good quality.. No more.. No less.
All other claims are imo Delusional.
So, please, please point me in the right direction, I'm ready to try LM3886. which one? anything with gerbers so I can buy the PCB's?
Thanks in advance.
Hello there,
I gave up on the LM series.
Some years ago I bought this kit, couldn't see any adjustment in it and put it on one side.
A few weeks ago I came across this video by Steve Wagner an instrument test of the one I bought.
I made this only in Mono so far and did a switched test from my listening position with my 3886.
This the original layout JLH is better so much so it's a joke!
This is what you find 🙂
Cheers

Hello Wik,
I would not know.
May I suggest that you buy a kit and use one Spirit on one board and the other Spirit on another board. Rig up a DPDT switch so that you may switch off one channel while listening to the other and vice versa and from your listening position. Do it for one hour per day and for a week and by that time you may or most likely may not notice any difference at all.
And when you've done the test please report your findings here.
Cheers

Was going to suggest the AKITKA Lm 3886 amp.You are precisely describing my subjective experience with LM1875. "nowhere near as good as my LM3886 amp" - That part I haven't experienced, as LM1875 is my first chip amp build!

But I Just looked and it's now at a Foolish price imo..for what you get perf wise.
Seriously suggest you Look into the diyaudio store and buy a Firstwatt Kit (I have an F6).. it's same if not cheaper price than the Akitka and frankly a LOT 'better' sounding .
Why fool around with lesser stuff ... and then pay More for it ??
The Akitika Gt-102 is an amp that I will always recommend , the kit sells now for 399 ( but it was 349 for many years) and it has everything (I’m talking components, boards, heat sinks, transformer and enclosure) you need to build the amp, right now , I don’t think you could buy something similar anywhere else.
Hi JoelFWIW, I built this one. Power supply is on board. Gerbers are available.
2X18V transformer. 21W per channel.
Approx $150 without a case. Chips form Mouser!
It's going to look nice in the case that I'm planning. Much better than that insanely priced PTP unit.
Where i can find this gerber? its a prasi version.
i use the search function but nothing...
thx
