... You can't fake that 🙂
Hmm ... even more interesting given your comment, I'll probably find a big fan-cool heatsink and see if it could dissipate 300W without dying.
Sorry Michael.
Please, don't be 🙂
No worries, I'm having lots of fun and we have a LOT of neat stuff to look forward to.
.... they're spaced 1V apart....

Hi soundhappy,
The steps are entered manually (at the Vb field, correspond to Vgs, last curve was at -7V), the Vc field is for Vds and a sample is taken at 0.5V increment.
Thanks and regards.

Nice
Ok is much clear now to understand your data 🙂
What place i can find usb PC curve tracer like your
at affordable price ? Thanks for answer.

Hi CWTIM, could you share the place for ask from faraway ?
Best Regards.
Hi dady,
It's an online market place called Taobao (sort of eBay for China, without the auction stuff).
However, I would hesitate to give the full link as given the appearance I'm still not very sure what they are (it maybe a small VFET chip inside a 182ES like case), and it's impossible to deal with them unless you can read/type Chinese.
If you can decrypt the attached screenshot and really keen, you'll be able to find the shop I used.
Thanks and regards.

It's made and sold by a forum member Locky_z, his thread below:

Take note of the voltage limitation though, it can only take a 40VDC supply so it can't trace at high voltage level.
You have to compare at the same scale to get the real picture.
Those curves look quite genuine to me. Same mu, same Rd. They're holding their drain resistance and not showing signs of "flop-over"
I could make a nice amp with those. Don't pry those apart. 🙂

Thanks Michael, I'll stay tune for your design from the coming Hangouts then.
THF-51T?
Dady mentioned of a Tokin THF-51S in a PM, so I searched a bit and ended up in a trusted shop where I got my 2SK82 before.
Interestingly the shop have picture of a THF-51T which looks exactly like my "refurbished" 182ES (the original 180ES have a flat base without the circle, like the THF-51S in the picture, and the Gate pin is different also).
Given the market price of THF-51S/T are lower than 182ES in China, now I have reason to suspect what I got is actually a "relabeled" THF-51T - well at least that's a real Tokin 🙂

I can't imagine why they'd go to the trouble of re-labeling a higher frequency part as a lower frequency part. But, markets are weird I guess. It's also possible the "circle-bottom" was found on various parts at different times and means nothing.
They're probably cheaper because they haven't been on my YouTube channel. 🙂

I won't say a word.

I see you've improved your Avatar 😉 Watch out for the Id monsters when
you fool around with the Krell.

Data sheets curves and others from real sit's on tracer.
Apparently not only 2SK180/ 182 but 2SJ24 can go freaky as well

Good morning Christoph, one question, where you can get 2SK77 or 2SJ24?
They are the "SCARCER" like 2SK79 or an Gold Unicorn or a green dog.
The best holyweek for you and your family.

Thes same question to You 😀
@ Diyers
My intention is say one more time: be always careful
in particulary if we don't have detailed curves from
original data sheets to compare. In Tokin documentation
they are 2SK182 but not ES mentioned so is probably for 1kW parts.....
happyly we have Michael and Cwtim01.
Best regards 🙂

Here we go.
Unfortunately, despite searching a whole night I can only find 1 piece, so it's not going to be very useful. (Actually I found another piece, but the seller refuses to accept return in case of defective part, so I back off).
