Linear Power 952

the 952 is just a regular 952 no iq, but i also have a 2502iq im working on. The 2502 is missing Q5 and the cap next to it, previous owner lost them , but the 952 has some bad damage in the power supply the tip35's were almost unreadable but your picture helped there but still need the other part # before can get this ready for it repair . I have head of letting the smoke out but there had to be fire on this 952 , cause the clamp is warped and welded looking !!

The transistor under the board may have been a TIP101 or a 2n6486. Both were used in various amps. The TIP was used in some of the later models. From what I can tell, the cap was likely a 220uf@16v.

Did you grab the linear schematics that were posted on this forum?

thanks Perry , i did take a look at the other schematics but didnt see them for the 952 or 2502iq. I figured that there were similar parts from lookin at the schematics.

For the 2502, look at the 8002 schematic.

YEP, Perry was right. (he always is) ... The transistor at the end, next to the white wires is 2n6486.
Here is the order of that rail. 2n6486, TIP35c,TIP35c, TIP32C,TIP36C,TIP35C,TIP31C ...

I have a modified 2502. It is Three 2502's in one Linear Power heatsink. Will get a closeup pic of the board for you. I have it mounted at the moment, but I think I have some closeup pics of the amp before I mounted it...

Almost forgot, the transistor between the TIP36c and TIP35c is mps8099 ... Sorry about forgetting that one... Correct order is:

2n6486, TIP35c,TIP35c, TIP32C,TIP36C,MPS8099, TIP35C,TIP31C

Thanks again Perry and Tom, my 952 is fully operational again, replaced the 2n6486/tip101 , 4- Tip35c and a 2n4403 , and sounds great, It was pretty burnt, glad to have it working again and not having to send it cross country for somethin i can do myself 🙂
