I see... I apologize, I thought we had those schematics and manual up, but they are not there yet. We will rectify that shortly.
thanks....
found it on the TPA support forum thread.
Would be nice if it was the schematic linked at the storefront, alond with an updated .XLS parts list.... would end a bit of confusion before it took root.

ok, good to go now on parts placement, etc...
back to the Tantalum resistors for the CCS of the I/V.
Decided to go the 180R / 390R route to get the 1.9v output ( I'll make sure the Balanced to SE traffo can handle it).
Can't find 1W 780R Shinkoh's. So seeing now that the 681's were in parallel, I found a 1W 1K8R and a 1W 550R I can use parelled to get 391R
Unless there is a problem with non-identical values in parallel, this will me the chosen path (of the moment)

Unless the value is not that important, but 1K8 parallelled with 550R makes 421R.
typo.... 500R should be the value when paralleld with 1K8R yeilds 391.3 R

Teflons are USA NOS
Yes your Legato have Wima & Panasonic
my mistake.
i wanted to write.
my legato have wima and not panasonic caps.
how much current to set for a single Placid BP with Legato 2? 250mA still sustainable?
no one?

Hi
The Legato manual states
'The Legato presents a nearly constant load of about 360mA'.
So 180mA for each rail with 60mA left in the shunts should be around 250mA each rail.
I have mine at 260mA per rail -13.5V/ +15.5V and it seems very happy. Not too much heat.

that manual must be for board version 1.0.2.
so no change required for legato 2?

Mine have before the upgrade 15nF Wima & 1nF Panasonic

Why your rail +- it's not symmetric?
Hi Dan
I used Vishay S104D resistors for I/V as they have a current rating of 1W and TX2575 as output resistors (for SE) All I can say is my Legato sounds damned good.
I'm slightly confused as to whether 1W is necessary for the I/V resistors. If not then the TX2575 would be excellent otherwise consider the S104D's they work very well I think. To my ears there was an improvement.
Vishay (Texas components) make the Z foil version S104Z @ 1W, which would be even better but a bit pricey.
I'm sure you won't be disappointed whatever you choose. If you want I can give you the prices I was quoted for various types.
Cheers Rich, will have to check the dissipation requirements of the I/V resistors. Actually these are quite a long way down my rather ridiculous "HiFi to do" list. 😱

Just taking advice from the main man himself. See post #46 of this thread

Thanks Rich, I will try both: yours & Russ

How symmetrically you run the Legato (1 or 2) rails will depend on your choices for the CCS and I/V resistors. 😎
If you omit the relay and the BAL/SE stage and want to use high output swing (say 4VMRS) then if you increase the resistors accordingly you can actually run the legato with rails around ~20V with no issues and somewhat increased dynamic range. But please only ever try something like this is you are absolutely confident in what you are doing. 🙂
Cheers!

So to run +15V - 13V I have to change I/V resistors R5-R8 4 105R instead 4 1K & Current source resistors are 475R (2 x in parallel) so I have to added 4 resistors in parallel with the just soldered in the pcb?
Thanks

I have no idea what you are wanting to do. 🙂
You don't "have to" do anything.
What is your goal?
