Hello Tad,

I've just received my PCBs today. Thank you vey much, they are in perfect condition and are very nice PCBs.

Are we gonna discuss the assembly at this thread or is there going to be a separate thread, on the "non comercial" section of the forum?

Thanks a lot

no mods on this thread I think. Im happy to make this the build thread, if not half of it should move to a new build thread.

Hello all,

I have crafted a generalized power supply board that can take up to 8 caps (ie: 4 per rail). The PCB is set up for either 40 or 35 mm cans with 2 or 4 pin snap connectors. For the prototype I will be using 8 Panasonic ECE-T2AP103FA caps. That amounts to a total of 40,000uF per rail at 100 volts. The PCB also has places for bleeder resistors, 2 diode bridges and screw connectors to bind to the outside world.

The PCBs will be coming from fab within the next few days. They measure 3.5 x 8.5 inches and are 2.4mm thick, double sided with 2oz copper. They have soldermask on both side and silkscreen on the top. I will post a PIC once I get the PCBs from fab. That should be within a few days.

Do these interest anyone? I would be willing to front a group buy if their is sufficient interest in them. I would expect cost to be between $10 to $12 each (plus shipping) dependent up the number that I order from the fab shop.

This is a general purpose power supply board that would work with most amplifiers and not just the Leach. I've also got a smaller version with only 4 caps (ie: 2 per rail).

Let me know if either of these are interesting.

Yes, I would be interested in these boards.

I believe the above pdf of the Leach amp is the most complete and exact copy of the original TIM by Dr. Leach. Except for the number of outputs all of the amps circuitry has been included.
I hope to have one up and running in about a month. I think this will be a real tribute to Jens layout expertise.
If anyone gets one going please do not leave us out.

John,
I received all of the requests for boards and filled the orders I had boards for. Ed was the last person on the waiting list for boards and I had 2 left. He got them.
If there is enough interest to order 75+ more Leach 12 boards I will gladly start another group buy. At this time I can not judge just how much interest is out there. This is not a particularly cheap amp to build so many just can not afford it. As I have stated before I think this is probably the best of all the Leach Low Tim amplifiers to date. Jens layout includes all of the specifics originally designed into the circuit by Dr. Leach. The board layout is what we all approved before hand and Advanced Circuits cut the pcb's superbly.
If you wish to start a wiki or interest thread I will be glad to order and distribute the boards.

Ed,
Just about everything you need to know about the 10 device board is on the Delta-Audio.com site. You have to access it through internet archive.
Dr. Leach also has the formula for changing rail voltages on his website -- The Low Tim Amplifier.
Were you able to find the thin film resistors in less than 1000 per lots? I have always wanted to use the .6 watt items which are so cherished here at DIY audio. The Dale CMF and RN types will work if you solder them vertical and the hole is large enough. Some old timers would not solder any other way but vertical. Do not know why.
