Leach Amp pcb group buy interest

Not open for further replies.
If there is sufficient interest I would step forward to lead a group buy. However I would want to do a group buy on the original board that did not have the 'break-off section' for half of the output devices (assuming Jens is interested). Any thoughts? Should I do it?

I would prefer the board with break off section. If not would you be looking at the 6 or 10 output board?

Carl, I have a quote from Advanced on the 12 unit board with the output section in the middle which Jens provided for us. I see a score mark on the boards in the file pictures between the first and second 3 pair. I am not aware of a break away section per se.
If you or anyone else is happy with this layout I will order some boards. I feel extremely confident the layout is O.K. without a beta set.
The wiki which PA has provided for us has enough interest attached to it at this time to proceed.
Any comments out there.

This group buy for the 12 output board can go now and I will use the names attached to the most current wiki as orders in advance.

Approximate cost at this time per board 18.00-19.00 dollars plus shipping.

PA, I am as ready as you to get this going.

Tad

PA and others,
I think I will send out an email to all of those on the wiki to make sure of their intentions. This is a rather old subject and I think this to be prudent.
So to all on the wiki and anyone else not on the wiki YET expect and email from me. Please enable email on your personal info.

This group buy will proceed as follows. The particular board which I am going to order is the 12 output design by Jens Rasmussen. It has some rather nice changes which you can see if you look back a quite a few pages.
This board has the speaker wires attached in the middle of the board. You may also saw off the last 3 pair of outputs if you so choose without affecting the layout.
The boards are to be .093 heavy gauge fiberglass with 2 oz. copper traces, green soldermask with white lettering.

I do not know if the Delta-Audio site is still up and running. If anyone has a copy of the BOM for this layout please feel free to post it.
Also, any other pertinent info gladly accepted. Just like everyone else here things at work are hectic and I am trying my best to keep this project alive.

One little note. If any new members or old for that matter who have not taken to build a nice robust amp, which this design is, you owe it to yourself to give this a go. With a nice stout power supply and a little attention to detail most anyone can make this amp work. Many thousands of Dr. Leach's Low TIM amps have been built, tested and debugged. Though not particularly cheap this is a very good project. It is a class AB amp which is efficient and planet friendly. It should not heat up your house to terrible bad.

This amp is based on a very much tested design. The base for this pcb is the 6 and 10 transistor amp from which many amps were constructed. The pcb designer is far from being a newbie. I feel very comfortable with this layout and will proceed with it.
If there is anyone out there much more knowledgeable than I any comments are very welcome.

Jens,
if you read this I would appreciate a few comments regarding the upgrades and changes, specific to this pcb, for all to read.

Many thanks, Tad

OK I'm thanks for your comments, Im in.

Anyone out there still interested in the new 12 output pcb -- the last one posted by Jens on this thread -- please send me an email with your name, email address, exact number of boards you want. I will send an invoice back.
I have a firm quote for the boards at 16.25 each. That does NOT include shipping and paypal fees. Thick .093 fiberglass with 2 oz. copper.
I have ordered 80 boards from Advanced Circuits.
Please respond quickly. I would email most of you but some of the names on the wiki do not correspond with the DIY audio names and some have email disabled.
The boards were ordered with a 4 week time delay to get the best price. I have already paid for them so please respond promptly.

This is a GO. We can start soldering by springtime.

I have run 2 previous group buys and do not think anyone got ripped off so you can feel confident about this.

Tad

I have received 12 email replys from members securing their boards. You must email me with your name, email address and number of pcb's in order to have them secured. There are only 80 pcb's ordered from Advanced Circuits. When they are gone they are gone.
