Leach Amp pcb group buy interest

Jim,
If you want to build one of these let me know. I have a pair of the older 10 transistor boards around here somewhere. I have built a couple and so I know you can. My pay grade is real close to living under the bridge -- just kidding. Let me know if you would like to step off into a Marshal Leach amp with Jens Rasmussen as the layout man. This design has been debugged and perfected for many years. A well thought out BOM and parts sourcing is also available by just asking someone around here.
Sometimes you just have to dive in with both feet.
Tad

It even says Leach somewhere on the board which you can show your grandkids.

Hags,
The final design 12 output boards have never been made. The pdf layout can be found a few -- maybe quite a few -- posts back. There is also a complete pdf schematic of the latest design somewhere back there.
I hope to be able to publish pictures of the final finished pcb in a few weeks when they are delivered from Advanced Circuits.
If the workmanship is like previous items they will look superb indeed. I really like the quality of machine routed pcb's over acid etched.

Tad is the schematic on this thread, Ive read it all and havent been able to find it.

Greg,
In the very early proto posts by Jens he states that these boards cannot be hand etched. The trace widths and spacing on modern pcb's are so small and close together that acid etching would be extremely difficult.
Most of the online virtual walkthroughs of pcb manufacturing facilities I have witnessed contain row after row of machine routers. I never see any dip tanks or drying booths. Also, In todays green world environment caustic acid disposal would be an expensive endeavor.
I am by NO means expert on this I just notice that all of the gerber information is transferred to a cam file which is then used by the plc router. Also, When you place an order there is a lot of pertinent data relating to machine router use. These machines have multiple tool holders on the spindles which perform routing, drilling, countersink, beveling and a plethora of other jobs elusive to the etching process.
I have also made personal observations of different boards and it seems the machine routed items are much more defined. Look at some of the published photos on this forum and you will see a tremendous difference in some boards compared to others. I think this is the acid vs. routing thing.
My two cents.

MAYBE after I get my DAC up and running. Oh, and I'm also building a turntable...

So, I think for the moment, I will hang back on the side lines. Too many irons in the fire right now (let's not forget planning my wedding and reconstructing my house...)😱

Anyway, thank you for the generous offer! I may very well take you up on that in the future...

Notice,
All of the pcb's have been spoken for. If someone neglects to pay then I will post this information for the individuals who might have been left out.

ALL GONE. 80 in one day. Whew.

Tad
Just wondering but why couldn't you set up a proper wiki page (I prepared it for you) and then everyone interested could sign up instead of this confusion? You could have ordered 200-300 pcb's maybe and got better prices but most of all everyone could follow the whole deal.

PA,
The way I do this is the only way I can be assured that everyone responds and is contacted in person. The wiki is fabulous if everyone involved stays up to date daily and responds promptly. In the past many have signed up on the wiki and later were unobtainable.. I have to have an email record and excel spreadsheet with everyones proper names and email. The wiki was great at obtaining the initial interest from which I decided to order the pcb's. The wiki which has been in place for several months has only garnered roughly 50-60 boards of interest.
If it was not for the information on the paypal invoices I would not have been able to reach several of the individuals in previous group buys.

NOTICE: I have been able to up my initial order of boards to 100. There are now 20 more boards available and I will adjust the price on the invoices. I am trying to stay attuned to everyones demands for boards.
So if you emailed me in the last few days and I did not respond expect to be contacted tonight -- Wednesday Eastern standard time.

Also, I have not yet gotten around to sending out any invoices. Not enough time. There is not any hurry since the boards will not arrive to me for a couple weeks at the earliest.
