Hi! I'm new at this stuff....at work we had a Kodak DP1100 DLP projector. The lamp blew up, literatly. We decided to just buy another projector for $500 since the lamps were like $400. Now I just found out I might be able to do something about it....
This projector uses 250/270w MH lamps....
a) is there a place were i can get the actual lamp so that I
can take off the cement and replace the lamp instead of
the whole casing/mount?
b) can I modify it to use a cheaper lamp (250w halogen?).
c) do I need to replace the ballast too?
Thank you very much

Well, I was able to modify the temp halogen light and I can see the squared screen on the wall, seems to be bright anough. Used a 250w halogen bulb from home depot and modified the original light housing with direct power cable not thru the ballast (I didn't want to but i broke the ceramic housing so i had to make some mods). Now I just need to find out how to turn it ON. Same problem as everybody else. Can't find the lamp, so it doesn't power up. I took it apart last night but it was too late to work on it. If anyone has a better idea on how to mod this projector to power up, please let me know b4 I break it completly. I don't have any electronics/technitian tools, so I need to know what Im going to need to do this. I'm used to working with PC's, so Im a little familiar with some of this cards but not with the terms...lol.....PLEASE ADVICE....thank you very much.
I am selling all kinds of bulbs of projector. only bulb. you can use your older reflector.
you can not modify it to use a cheaper lamp (250w halogen). you need a point-light
you dont need to replace the ballast .
your lamp is 270-watt metal halide, test the ballast out put at once when you turn off the power, tell me the voltage is DC or AC?

Ok...this is what the original lamp system is (see pic) i thought that the blue and amber wires were the one that would signal the lamp presense but it seems that the shorted function is already there and is not working. I pluged it into the wall jack and nothing happened, not even the buttons lit up. Could it be a power supply malfunction? Any help please...point me to the right direction please. Thank you...😀
well, it seems that my problem is bigger. I tested for power and not a single reading. Thank you ywh, I tried what u told me but no reading w/power on/off plugged unplugged, cable in/out reversed cables..😀....so I guess my problem could be the power supplied, switch, or anyother.
...I'm not going to waste my time right now...who knows in the future.....

the projector wont power on without the lamp plug attached because those 2 wires need to be shorted.
the DP1100 is nothing more than a rebrand of an infocus LP435Z. which is a 270Watt metal halide DC lamp operating around 75 volts or so.

Ok....the bulb blew up...boom (explosion)...no more bulb...I plugged the lamp plug in and measure the power where ywh told me to and I get nothing...no reading at all...I tried pressing the power button, the power switch, plugged to the wall jack, not plugged, power on/off just like on the image but nothing happens, NO READING....any ideas. thank you for the comments and help....😕 😕 😕
Hey, how can i check if power is getting into or thru inside the projector. (i.e. other electronics/parts inside?)...thanks
well if your getting no power at all, even with the original lamp housing plugged into the power supply, then most likely you blew the the power supply up.
I think I do have a problem with the power supply..must likely it burn, I guess it would be too much work and money to troubleshoot and fix it. PowerSupply+Bulb+NotSureItWillWork=i guess not....thank you guys...
hi accvtec i have a benq projector and if the first panel that u remove to axess the bulb is not in its place then all the current is inturrupted.a sort of safty like a drying machine door or a microwave just stick a screw driver in the safty
hi
i had the same idea as the other guy, but i have a boxlight cp-310t,
the ballast's sticker states "ms6l 8809 3020790046" i dont know if this is the part number, but thats all i got.
it has an output to the mainboard of five terminals, (red, white, blue, yellow, black). is there any one of these i can short/cut to make my projector think the bulb is there.
when i plug it in it states that there is a bulb error. -i push on, the starting relay activating and retrys a few times, then it gives up, so i believe that it is in working condition.
if anyone can help, please dont be shy 😀
thanks in advance

ive searched all over google, and no one knows what the geometry of a projector lamp/reflector is.
are the light beems parallel or do they have a focal point?
would it be possible to use a small high-beam headlamp from a car or foglights, they, according to wikipedia, emit parallel beams, without the lens.
-or-
could you use an optic fiber to provide external light to the projector? there you could use a 400w MH bulb, thats (given 65-115 lm/W and 90% is absorbed by LCDs) 2.6k- 4.6k lumens !!

Hi, I have an Infocus LP435Z and have a similar problem. Recently I buyed a lamp from diypro.us, an JYs-SE lamp (Single-ended) de 280W/DC.
The proyector starts OK shorting the pins 4-5 of the lamp connector
no warnig lights or sounds. But when I connect the lamp, the lamp doesnt starts. Nothing happens.
You said that it could be the ballast, is there any way to fix it to work with the lamp?
Thanks and regards
