Lafayette 710A Solid State Tape Machine - Potentiometer Fix

Hello Everyone 🙂
I recently got a Lafayette 710A two track, monaural reel to reel tape machine. The tone knob is badly damaged, and the tape head needs to be realigned. The tone knob looks has two pins, and I was wondering if I could replace it with a standard three-pin potentiometer. Is this possible? And how can I realign the tape head? I can hear sounds bleeding over from other tracks.

I can't see the tone knob in the pictures.
The tapeheads probably don't need realignement. Look at the red seel. It is intact. Don't turn the screws if you haven't got alignment tapes.
I think you played the wrong kind of tape (4 track?). Find a two track tape and see if that plays without the bleeding.
