I stumbled too and want give some of my experience.

I have put a thin foil of lead between cartridge and Rega arm, for damping and adding more mass. The VTA is adjusted with a two nut system bought in ebay.

In my ears this was an other step further to audio nirwana.

Next step will be to to the golden cut to the DL103.
