Ok i was wrong. The j110 3rd leg goes back to a 2n4401

the voltages are as followed

Leg1:-13.24
Leg2:-13.20
leg3:-0.2

Which leg connects to the muting transistor?

Leg 1 of the 2n4401 connects to leg 3 of the J110

Check the 4401 to see if it's shorted.It's probably not but you should check it.

If it's OK, what connects to leg 2 of the 4401?

leg 2 connects to the middle leg of the rectifier

I re did all the solder connections on the amp (very time consuming)
Amp is up and working 100% flawless.

Im gonna work on the next one in a little while and do the same thing i did to this one and hope thats all that is wrong with it.

On this 2nd amp i have a transistor that is bad.

Its marked D669AL.

Wondering if i can sub this for something else since i do not have that part

That's a high voltage transistor but there's no high voltage in this amp so a 2N6488 installed facing the opposite direction should work.

Ok replaced that part.

Next problem is theres.02 volts on the output of left channel and it has distorted output. I took the preamp board out of the amp then measured still the same .02 volts on outputs.

wondering where to start checking?

How is it distorted (top of waveform missing, bottom missing...)?

not sure. I said the heck with my scope so i orderd a new one and it should be here in a few days

Ok Perry i of my friends loaned me his scope. Wondering what do i set the scope to?

And what do i probe? Also the test probe for his scope is junk so i cut the end off a meter lead and stuck it in the test probes spot I need a ground so where do i ground it at?

Ok i set this scope up and tryed it on the gate's for the power supply fets to make sure it works.

This is what i came up with showing you that the scope works.


SO what do i need to probe to check the wave forms?

Not sure if i did this right but the first image is from the distored channel 2nd image is from the working channel

Set the time base to 2mS and reduce the signal level so that the signal isn't clipped on the good channel.

That's not distorted. Try it with a speaker load.

Put it back in the sink powerd up still distorts like crazy
