No Worry's. Yes to removing screws, that's the only way you can work on the board, or remove the VR.
Try using contact cleaner if you have some available. You will most likely have to take the VR apart to repair though.

There was so much muck in this and the legs that touch the small board in the was bent so it didnt make contact. Ive cleaned it and bent the legs back. Hopefully this will fix it as once the gain is setup i wont touch it again.

Just soldered the pot back into the board and installed back in to the car,,, IT WORKS!!! gain is now adjustable again. Thanks soo much for all the help you have given me. Im going to go rock out now and annoy the neighbours. ��
