I just saw a problem with this amplifier. The amplifier is clipping with the gain pot all the way down. If I turn it up then down the signal goes clear, then raises till clipping again slowly. Would this be a problem with the pot? If I look at the output signal from the preamp board it looks good. If I press down on the pot it returns to a normal signal. Do you have a part number for this pot?

Are the supposed to be 20k one the gain measures 11k but I have some 20k that should work.

Yes, it is a 20kohm pot. Contact cleaner may help.

Don't think it's the pot. I replaced it same thing. If I turn the pot down it goes to a clear signal, only to rise back to clipping in a few seconds.

1v 40hrtz inputs all pots turned all the way down.

Coming from preamp board. I do know that.

Long shot but in one version of the preamp board, one of the support legs for one of the pots would short to a trace that ran under it. The leg is bent out in the attached image so it could not short.

Signal trace and measure the DC voltages on all of the opamps.

Also, check the remote gain terminal for any bent pins,that may be shorting. Broken traces,cold solder joints.

There may be an 100uf NP cap that is shorting to the preamp board. This occurs on other models,but may have a similar issue.

072 changed back to operation. and retouched up the soder joints along the card. and deoxed and resodered the pots. working good now. Thanks
