Hello there
I've just recently entered the heady world of DIY amplifier/music systems. Currently I have a pair of LM3876T amps built which are functional and merely lack a pair of dedocated speakers.
I will be building a pair of Cyburg's Needles to go with the amps. But I have just raided the 'cupboard under the stairs' and pulled a DIY car subwoofer I inherited. It was equipped with a Pair of Kenwood KCF-W2500 Drivers which I have now liberated them from the 'enclosure', I use the term loosely, and they seem to be in good order.
I have found the data sheet for them but it lacks detail. Not that I would know how to apply such information.
So my question is, for use in the home, how best to use one or both units?
I guess I am looking at running one or both with the needles I understand I would need to build a 'filter' to allow the needles to do the mids and highs whilst letting the KCF's deal with the bass. Obviously an amp to drive them as well.
Other than the above just building something suitable to learn from is also a part of my interest.
I attach the, brief, spec sheet for your consideration.
regards

Greets!
Nothing useful in the owner’s manual, but Googled these specs, though no clue how accurate they are other than 2.67 ft^3 = ~75.606 L and 74.19 L = ~2.62 ft^3, so best to design with the larger Vas. I’m thinking that the Xmax spec is P-P, so should be ~10.65 mm……….
10" woofer; Kenwood KFC-W2500, Peak Power 360W.
Fs = 28hz
Vas(FT^3) = 2.67
Vas(m^3) = 74.19
QMs = 11.228
Qes = 0.337
Qts = 0.327
Pmax = 360
Re = 3.51
Xmax = 21.31
Sensitivity(db@1w/1m) = 91
On paper, you can tune these down to below 20 Hz if you choose in a small cab, but the trade-off is a very long vent, so might as well use some form of TL or even sealed if in a small room or sit close. Your call, what sort of performance are you wanting in what max size and where in room will it [them] be located?

Hello there
Thanks for the information. The room is 12 X 24 feet. Distance from the speakers around 10ft. Performance? Well I don't really have a clue. My main agenda is enjoying my music again. But allowing the unit to become part of a HT setup is of interest. If that has any bearing.
The bass woofer should complement the needles in terms of output. Am I making any sense? lol
Perhaps I should look at a single driver only at this point? A moderately sized bass unit? I don't want to alarm 'the significant other' to much 😀
I really will need a good steer on this end of the project.

Hi GM,
Did a search too and found the specs you posted all over the net..
I picked the Sd value as for the similar KFC2510..
ËÀÁÈÐÈÍÒ, Í× ñåêöèÿ, âîïðîñû è îòâåòû - Ñòðàíèöà 2 - Ôîðóìû ÀÓÄÈÎ ÏÎÐÒÀË

You're welcome!
Ugh! Bad acoustics, what with the dims in even multiples, especially if the ceiling is around 8 ft.
Well, for HT it needs to be tuned to at least 20 Hz and preferably lower if no true sub is used. For music, ~32 Hz is low enough unless you like to listen to pipe organ symphonies that can have usable output down to 16 Hz.
Don’t know which Needles you’re planning, but ideally you’d want at least 200 W/driver since it’s so inefficient, so will probably need EQ to tonally match the mains through the XO BW.
Regardless, due to the driver’s tiny Vas dictating an acoustically small cab with a long vent to get a low tuning, using some form of TL such as bjorno has suggested is the way to go.
