Those KEF R900s really seem to be a silly choice. Appalling crossover quality, cheapest components available, uncanny layout. I'd prefer to stay away from speakers as costly and as bad.

Here's what we replaced the stock crossover with to absolutely zero effect.

Ah forgot to add. We found a pencil inside while taking the $5000 speaker pair apart.

Is there not an other pcb or parts elswhere ???

What are those "paper" surounded caps made by bennic ??? MKT ? Look how they are big vs the small blue marked Benic (bad caps btw) : but maybe here for its bad esr there in the circuitry ?

Anyway as it's open : I DO upgrade the filter and/or the caps/coil...

Jantze Crosscap are cheap , measure precise, imho difference will be heard in mid and treble. Is there shunted caps (zobel?) : if so buy lytics or idem mp Cross Cap because the ease of precise mesurment.
If a resistor in front of the mid a test with a Bulk power resistor or a wirewound or also for the few if not inductance : mox... keep the oe you prefer after intensive listening test : cements resistors ofte calm down things and are ok... we talk about very low Z values in speaker filter.. But sure a cement vs a Mundorf Supreme is hearable, that's not saying in relation to the filter/speaker combo that the Supreme will be better each time : trust your ears and surounding ears as well.

Those polyester 6.8uf 100v Bennic and 6.8uf 100v MDL caps are wrapped not in the paper, that's plasticine. Those two caps are the only non-electrolytes on both HF-MF and LF boards.

Stay in a galaxy far far away from KEF R900. Useless speakers for quarter the money indeed.
