Do you have a type number/source for those? I'll be eager to try them out. The old Shinkoh are still among the best resistors i've tried and even the magnetic Audio Note are not half bad. Quite possibly coloured, but in a way that pleases my ears. Smds will fit nicely on a Shallco.
Has anyone tried Pass-style bipolar switches for an attenuator? I never had much luck with relays and wonder if semiconductor switches may sound better.
hose physicians would need to revise their detector design and pile up amplifiers
Hehehe, I fully second that 😀 But please only high-quality gear 😉
Well, neutrinos do react with matter, but as you already said not on a regular basis, so to say. If we however want to talk about real effects, than I should have mentioned van-allen belt...
But that would only be half the fun 😉
Have fun, Hannes
One should wear a hat/helmut made of aluminum foil, or if you have it, Mumetal foil (preformed preferably), for maximal positive influence over your magnetic radiation issues.
Besides out here in the countryside there are not too many magnetic fields from distant sources, kind of a non-issue.
As always ymmv.

As for my comments vs the excitation of the given reader, I prefer the idea of learning how to think effectively over rote memory skills. One or two steps further back is to me - far more valuable. 🙂
A great approach (to my view).
(Pardon the late reply, I just got home from New York).
when building your 'cage', a concrete-iron-copper-mumetal-aluminum sandwich works best imo
don't foget your sensory deprivation tank for listening ;o)

Welcome back Joshua_G, I hope that all went well.
Wow, Audiowolf, now we are COOKING! This is the level where we live, fellow engineers, in the realm of serious audio design.
I have used tantalum pots for input loading of Vendetta Research phono stages, and I hope to use up my existing supply before I leave this Earth.
In measuring these pots for excess noise, I did find that they were good, but not as good as wire-would resistors. It would be interesting to test fixed tantalum resistors for excess-noise, or at least look at the spec sheet for a number.

Bear, it is the COSMIC RAYS that I worry about. They can cause cancer, and mutate our unborn children! What to do?😕
syn08 said:Also, an ear popping device seems to be mandatory.
Either a hand gun, or living in a bunker will do.
meanwhile
Better buy some spares fast, the next FET may be a NEC again.

Congratulations John and Bear, when are they due ?
alan,
have no fear of anything cosmic whatsoever in or around your vicinity... you're quite safe.

How right you are!
That's not what they told me on NOVA or Nat'l GEO last week! And I don't want my grand-daughter to be an airline employee flying the polar route either.

What?
I have just finished a lot of helmets, and suddenly it seems like that was wasted?
I was planning a group buy thread.
PS. Does anybody need some aluminium foil?
Stinius
Only in that specific area of London, apparently there is a dirth of cosmic events... for the rest of us, we need something... or else we should just enjoy the cosmic nature of things around us...

No, it is just that the hear-no-difference group have nothing to contribute on the subject and dilute the topic with vague insults.

if there is nothing solid to fight against, one has to beat the mist...vague insults

Maybe so, but the GEB seems to be a bit stubborn as well.
