This is a great story, this guy lived in a trailer park and sold foil hats against cell phone radiation and filed infringement suits (in Texas of course) against virtually everyone and ended up getting big $$$ to go away because an invalidation judgement cost at least 2-4M.
I had two evaluation boards from AD, at this time. Build and listened to this amp. It was both measuring and sounding nice at this time.
Anything to say about technical correctness of this application note ?

Why attack a colleague like this? Zung talked of "Professional courtesy".

Heck, I only got through Advanced Calculus, and that was over 50 years ago.

JN comments come to mind regarding practical experience and a comment I got from one of LLNL best EE's..... Out of the hundreds of the best and most experienced EE's they can find any where on the planet.... only a few ever at LLNL needed to use calculus on a regular basis in their work of APPLIED Engineering. The heavy theorists were at the universities.

Which brings me to another well known Mathematics professor at UC LA.... students, he told me, no longer understood the fundamental principles behind the math. A greater dependency and desire is on computer canned math in software to give an answere.

Some of this seems to apply here as those with deep experience seem to be ignored in favor of (usually, partial) theory explanations.

There are good reasons to have both and there is room for both here but such intolerance to both in favor of one over the other isnt living in the real world.

A prevailing attitude was PM'ed to me -again. After I noticed some 90 + people were reading this at any one time;

"No need to wonder why many of us don't post in the Blowtorch thread.
Really? Jump into that hornets nest? I have better things to do. It is fun to read though.

yes... has the appearance of bias at work. Noticed before also.
Would like to think he just doesnt catch all of it?
Just hit the "report post" button on some obviously insulting messages (you've got a lot against you) and you will have the answer.
Now, i'm considering the forum subtitle "by fanatics for fanatics " with another meaning.

The question I ask myself is: is there another forum where we could talk about audio in a friendly atmosphere and share technical works as well as listening impressions, practical tips etc. without having to be insulted permanently by a band of aggressive "fanatics" witch hunts what they imagine are witches with a knife between their teeths and drooling lips, under the blessing of the ... local authorities ?
Audio Science Review (ASR) Forum ?
Other ?
We could meet there as a family and let the big brothers of the fight club kill each other here.. in family. Or rest in peace, having no more victims to sacrify.

I hope that this suggestion will not be censored by the moderation, going in the direction of what, obviously and for reasons which I cannot explain, they dream of.

OTOH, half decent square wave capability is conventionally considered unimportant

That certainly seems to be the case, and when you try and measure it with a microphone you can start to see why. My question was not about transient response in speaker crossovers, it was more general, but I found the answer by measurement 🙂 As I mentioned my interest was piqued by the measurements of the Jordan fullrange driver, similar to what I have

:cop: Tournesol, Perhaps if you posted somehwere other than just this one thread you may find that this site is quite a pleasant place to be.

This thread is not for the feint of heart, but we DO apply the rules when things get out of hand. Anyone participating in this thread does so voluntarily, if you don't like it go elsewhere.

You are skating on VERY thin ice.

What exactly are you talking about, crossovers or making square waves in your listening room?
As square waves are dependant of the phase curve of each speakers (witch are far to be linear) it needs to be interpreted. That is easy with a little habit. As I said, I referred to this:

You are sooo right Richard, I'm such a thicko, can you ever forgive me? 🙄

Oh I dont know. You are smart enough for sure. Just you dont seem to understand what you are doing or at least give me that impression. I know what you are saying because I have seen it, too. Its more complex thna can be told in a simple sentence, unfortunately. I was broad because I have to be. Getting deeper into it is not something i have much interest in doing in this forum. I just pointed to what the major issue is regarding sq wave reproduction....
