All it means is you may want to reevaluate how you evaluate the quality of an audio system. It happens to me all of the time. I’m used to shedding preconceived notions. I go down the swirly hole about on a monthly basis. Each time you just swim out and move on.Hi Robert,
Well, that entire conversation went down the swirly hole. I'm not going to pursue anything with a response like that. It's clear where you are coming from, and that's okay for you.

Agreed - I tried to tease out how anatech evaluated his audio playback system & came to the same conclusion as youAll it means is you may want to reevaluate how you evaluate the quality of an audio system. For me, almost everything is important, including open loop bandwidth (to reduce PIM). I just keep winning awards for my concern to do it 'right' and not settle with the status quo.

This is the most hilariously ironic thing I've read in a while. Unless it's to "add more imaginative thinking to my hearing", then carry on.
As to your point about "best sounding" tribe if you mean "scrambling around with hints and impressions and claiming genius" then, by all means.
Just remember your two fallback arguments are "XYZ name drop" and "gotta run and fulfil orders!", both of which aren't even remotely substantial in terms of "best sounding" and are gigantic logical fallacies. So spare us.
Well I just fitted a rebuild Ortofon Rohmann. Clearly there was not enough silver in my system as my wife commented on how good it sounds (I now have silver coils in the cartridge ).
😛
😛
She's adding up the amount of silver that can be melted down into jewelry when billshurv pops his clogs 😀
I hope she was in the kitchen when she commented... 😀
Sadly sitting next to me so her judgement was clouded!
l’ll remember this and chuckle as I get daily praise through emails and phone calls from my customers. This is the most hilariously ironic thing I've read in a while. Unless it's to "add more imaginative thinking to my hearing", then carry on.

Never mind the coils, I'm more impressed by the cactus cantilever.
The cactus is on an AT MM. It looks wonderful, I do hope it sounds good too. If soundsmith can charge over $5k for their cactus model I am certainly in an exclusive club 🙂
Ah, I see, it's hard to keep up. So the AT155 cantilever/stylus went to the Rondo, the 155 got the cactus, and the Rohmann kept the silver coils but a break (or short?) in the lead-out wires repaired, and did the Rohmann also get a new stylus/cantilever? The repair looked fraught, I would have fainted if I removed that screw and broke all the wires!
The Rohmann is an odd shape, in your photos it looks a bit nise-down but I assume you got the SRA right.

Basically yes. The Rohmann now sports the cantilever off a Goldring 1042 which is thinwall tube with Gyger FGS diamond. I had an illogical and irrational desire to have one of these stylii on a cartridge so I scratched the itch. No claims of veils being lifted will be made 🙂. I just wanted it so I got it made.
Alignment is as good as I can get without a better USB microscope. That is next on the list. See attached. The unit I have just wont stay in focus long enough to get a clear view of the rear facet. But if anything I might have to raise the rear a tad more.
