So you feel that I hate. Well, it's your feeling and you are entitled to it. As for your pick of hate as the conclusion, must be rooted in your own experiences...Why do you hate someone who have audio business? Are you jealous? Or do you feel threatened?

It seems that the overlords now are not so interested in cross pollination. Everybody seems to complain that interactivity and creativity are being stifled by bottom line.
My point to them was the cross pollination aspect, and that upper management should foster a better environment for creative ideas to be bandied about..as, what I did was trivially simple for an electrical engineer, and that the chemist didn't have direct access to one.
Their takeaway? More happy hours..
Sigh.

Its in the organisational structure. It needs to be a Matrix organisation to force cross-pollination. Matrix from top to bottom. Look at the top and his/her background and on down the line.
Activities began at Livermore under the aegis of the University of California with a commitment by its first director, Herbert York, to follow E. Lawrence's team-science approach and be a “new ideas” laboratory.
A typical corporation structure isnt conducive to that sharing between department specialists.

Of course I do. But I do not know about your other feeling except hate.
If it is a joke, I don't understood-it.I'm sorry, we're still talking about hearing, right?:
It was about testing its high frequency hearing performance.
I agree with you whole heartedly. Now, all they want is an account number to charge.
I've been seriously thinking of approaching the lab director, and broaching the idea of a small, uncommitted group of about six very good players to be available to solve any motion control problems that arise around the lab. We would be extremely busy.
Unfortunately, the phrase "no good deed goes unpunished" always pops up. That, and the phrase "a thousand attaboys will be completely wiped out by one "aww s##t".

I wasn't sure it would carry across cultures or ponds.
It was a joke. Over here, "equipment" sometimes is used to refer a gentleman's privates. My joke intended to reference the double meaning in a humorous way.
It is not the first time I have skewered myself with a bad joke. Nor will it be the last.

This violate the hyper speed law, that use space time tunnels.Take your time, they have a long trip. (E.T.s)
It said that, when they travel at least a little more than two time the light speed, they are reconstituted at the arrival with a satisfying accuracy.
(Well satisfying is affraiting).

If the top person is idea creation oriented..... but, You dont need to go to the top. You can let people know by talking to them, you can do this and that for them. just ask and you shall receive. Spread the word. Next time you have the mic... tell if anyone who needs help with such and such things to give you a call... and suggest an informal list of specialists be published with phone numbers. etc.
Career people want to do a good job... so, you will end up having people cross talking to one another (matrix) informally within a formal hierarchical business structure.
I dont know where you work so i cant fine tune it but just giving you the idea.
When we say manage... manage what? A project? A design? No, management is managing people. Managing the resources.

You just have to live on one of the two poles.Ps. Do we beat you with New Year's Eve timing, or do you beat us? That infernal international date line thingy confuses me no end.
But, they think they have best hearing ability. So, everyone must stick to CD 😀
Of course no one has said that. But never let that get in the way of adding to the noise on the thread.

Do we take a stopwatch and an accelerometer when we try a car with a car dealer ?
I do... Well, a bit more sophisticated equipment than that but the principle holds. 🙂
I did not imagine you as a reviewer of an exclusive cars magazine.I do... Well, a bit more sophisticated equipment than that but the principle holds. 🙂
I wouldn't bother unless I got a listening protocol from someone like SY and insisted we apply it.
First step is to learn what to listen for .
Second step is to express the hypothesis that you want to test.
Third step is to choose an appropriate test protocol.
Fourth step is to design a sound experiment around and using the test protocol choosen before.
What is music for some is noise for others.

Sponsored clearly by beats, which makes me smile as you chose the track
<snip>
......., I still worry that the protocol may affect the human doing the test.
Again, no basis in fact, just a feeling.
Not just a feeling but a well known fact;in the past, I've cited a few of the relevant publications and quoted some data to show the evidence.
Often intentions are misunderstood here. and, not surprising, while you were looking at the headsets, I was interested in the microphones ;-)Sponsored clearly by beats, which makes me smile as you chose the track
It was for the lyrics, thinking of this thread and for a change with the Stevie Wonder original.
The groove is OK, unlike our thread, some unusual instruments, more like. The mix is confused, as the forum, and, about the "real thing", musicians from all the sides of the earth never met.
Contrary to our place, and despite of this, they play together, listening each others.
BTW, a good illustration of the difference between listening to music vs technical aspect of the reproduction.

We're actually just sittin around bandying back and forth about methodologies to get groups of specialists in various disciplines to work together for the common good.Ego instead knowledge show, very disappointing.
Happy New Year to everybody.
Kinda like what my naive earlier self thought forums and threads like this would grow into. While I'm not quite so naive now, I can still hope.
As to our discussion being ego, no it is not. It is a lull in the technical discussion.
Have you any insight into the superposition linearity concern I raised for multi frequency mixed signals near nyquist, modified by NRZ, dropped into a brickwall? Or, the discussion of zero crossing being the primary localizer below 3.5 to 5 kHz?
Or perhaps a test suggestion to discern the passing or failing of linearity in such a complex system, or a test to discern if ITD is compromised through such a non linear system.
Or maybe a question about the fact that as you get closer to nyquist, the output reconstruction filter has to get longer and longer in z to properly tame the modulation of the samples.edit:when building my excel sheet and playing with numbers, the modulation of sample values goes bonkers as you approach nyquist from above 2x, showing a data stream with wild envelope modulation. I'll post a couple of examples at lunch if I have the time.
Saying it's all about ego and that it is sad...that provided no information on the discussed topic.
I welcome your technical input, as I do everyone's. Please do not add to the pig pile mess some have made this thread into.
Happy new year to you as well.
