Let's see what the manufacturer has to say about it:
WAVAC Audio Lab. Single-ended Directly Heated Triode Power Amplifier SH-833
You have to admit a 150w SET is different.
The measurements are truly terrible. I think I had a Walkman that had less bass boost when bass boost was turned on.

Walkman has a much cheaper sounding bass boost, apparently.
Maybe this thing would be the perfect match for my NS-10 speakers which don't have any bass to begin with. Sadly, unable to buy one to find out.

A Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to one and all. Live well and prosper, no matter which God you believe in. Here's to your good health (local wine).
I once had a WONDERFUL listening experience at a WAVAC (or something sounding just like it) demo at CES some years ago. I was just walking by, and I had some time to kill. I will never forget the sound of Ella Fitzgerald on vinyl through their biggest power amp and a pair of Tannoy Westminister (partial horn) loudspeakers singing 'September Song'. I would love to be able to emulate it with my own system. Why did it sound so good? It was a competitor, ridiculously expensive, and very heavy, and it probably measured lousy. Yet, it sounded wonderful!

Well others have asked why don't get Parasound to back a limited edition valve amplifier? Don't publish any specs, sell on ears only.
EDIT - I just realized how strange this comment is.

Tubes'll do that .......
Well, tubes have been done, and I can't contribute further. My goal has been to make solid state sound as good as vacuum tubes, and I have given tubes 'a run for their money', and still do. My best solid state designs sound pretty darn good to an international audience of serious listeners, yet when I hear the BEST sound quality, often it is with tubes. Not always, of course.
Now, I want someone as crazy a me to develop DIGITAL to the same extent that I have done solid state analog. Don't compromise, don't wish away, trust your, and other serious listener's ears. Admit to inherent limitations, and try to get around them as best you can. Go for it! And by the way, Merry Christmas to everybody.

I don't know. At least they don't call it research do they?
It can be research without being 'good' research. Like art, music etc. Even if there were problems with the tests as you have noted, as long as they gave enough information for someone else to replicate, its valid research. Whether the data actually moves on the sum total of mankind's knowledge is a seperate issue 🙂

Not to be Grinch, but problems have arisen when poor research it referenced in subsequent research, then that subsequent research later referenced by by other research. Nobody goes back to the original research to to check on it's validity after a while. If it seems plausible, it becomes accepted as fact.
For some example of how far things can go awry, I can point to "facts" widely accepted in the medical literature that are based on essentially nonexistant research, like some unpublished talk at a conference where the only written documentation was an abstract for the proceedings. Nobody ever checked as far as I could tell.
Anyway, Happy Holidays to everyone!
That's just human nature to be lazy and not check facts. A prime one for me (I have 5 kids) was the fact that 4 hour feeds was recommended for over 100 years until someone checked and discovered the original source chose that number as it seemed good at the time.
Freud is another. His experiments were at best poor but a whole industry of head shrinks have built up around it being the one true way to empty your wallet in return for a nice chat.
Now Pavlov. I really really hope no one tries to replicate his research. Some of that was seriously unnerving. And I assume you have heard of Andrew Wakefield? We ran him out the country but he seems to have a loyal following stateside. Nowt as queer as folk.
Happy holidays to you and all. Half an hour to go here and still mince pies to make. I love making pastry. I make a mess and SWMBO doesn't complain 🙂

Beef or lamb suet?
That is not going to happen in the next decade or two. Digital has a LONG, LONG way to go to beat the the best analog. It's the same with SMPS power supplies, they will have to make some big leaps in switching noise control to beat a linear power supply in clean sound. Now, I want someone as crazy a me to develop DIGITAL to the same extent that I have done solid state analog. Agreed.
Beef or lamb suet?
Sadly neither. The joy of marrying a vegetarian. The benefits are worth it though 🙂
