You have a company behind you with the ability to buy what you need. I own a bit of test equipment because it is useful for my work.
Now I must admit to being a bit amused when I see folks here worry about the cost of items such as resistors. I prefer to buy them in hundreds to get the price break, the biggest issue is how to store them so they can be found. I have two custom built drawers that hold 5% values and a three ring binder with plastic pocket sheets to hold the 1% values.
I did an article for Linear Audio Vol. 0 on how to store IC's so you can find them. I have three binders for that.
Now I did buy some IC socket closeouts, so there are a few thousands of those.
But lets get real, most folks don't have those resources. I just have to rub it in I also have a sheet metal shop so I can build chassis in minutes. That along with a 1M x 1.5M light duty 3 axis NC milling machine for PC prototypes, spray etcher, AP System 2 and what virtually everyone playing here lacks a complete set of acoustic tools including a test chamber.
So don't ride J.C. for having an apartment choked full of what to others is junk and using it in ways he is comfortable.

But I must mention I do have a large flat rate postal box full of stuff I can't use. I was planning to send it (Free of charge virtually anywhere on Earth, so SY is out) to whoever could give me the best reason to do so.

There are many forms of censorship, Marce, one of them being to give greater leeway to those you agree with than those you do not agree with. You create an artificial inbalance, and get an upper hand on somebody without actually having to say a word yourself.

I have plenty of 8 pin sockets, BUT they are not wired up with feedback resistors and a power supply.
For you anything. The correct time in your time zone will be 25:00 at the beep.
I would be worried about the impact the setup had, especially the rails.
At least with a hardwired socket, you know what you have.

The biggest problem I have with the newer smt is availability. No matter who I buy the stuff from, they keep sending me empty packages with some sand in them instead of electronic components. I think they all drop ship from some place at the beach...

I just hire the kids who are interested and then they get the run of the place to play as they will. (Much smaller school.)

My son went to CMU for one semester, and asked for a transfer. I kid you not, he said there were supposedly two women in a class but he couldn't tell who they were. 😀 I just think too much nerd work, he is doing fine at a very strange small software company.

CMU has three basic rules, work, work and work harder. It is a grind school. It has women just a smaller percentage than most schools. If you want good looking women then you should look at a university with a medical school. For some reason women dress better there.
As to not being able to spot the women, there is a stranger tale. One of my high school classmates (real name "Tron") was in my same class of EE's. In the early 70's he wore a crew cut, jacket, tie, button down shirt and trousers to class. He always sat in the front row. In our senior year I mentioned him by name to another classmate. He didn't know who he was. (Class size of 80 or so.) I said you know the blond guy with the crew cut and suit sitting in the front row. He replied to the effect there wasn't anyone like that and surely if there were he would have noticed. Next day he stopped by to mention to his amazement there really was someone like that and he couldn't believe that he never noticed it before.
