In Europe the passat means 'married with kids' , passat station wagon means 'married with kids and a dog' 🙂. Cool yoof mobile it isn't!
Why?

Because I don't believe in you.
You have to come up with some evidence.

When I refer to resonance, I refer to approximate 20KHz that is often used to 'perk up' low speed analog recorders or MM phono cartridges. I don't include 40-80K resonances built into MC phono cartridges that are necessary for the operation of the devices and secondarily, fill in for scanning losses.
Mr Reodor Felgen ie Feodor Relgen is not who he claims to be!
Certainly not Norwegian, unless a rare Norwegian who cannot speak Norwegian! 😉

And as I said, Ortofon use a 20kHz resonance on their MCs.

Hi Waly. Good to know you are still out there grinding away.
Bye.

😀 Now that is funny. But also describes Waly perfectly.

Tourny,
Afraid I have to disagree with you. I think to be a man requires a bit more than biology. A male perhaps but not a man.

Can you provide evidence of this? I've never seen a low output MC cart with a resonance much below 25kHz or so. The mighty Dynavector 17D-III is much, MUCH higher than this.
Ed's comment about 32 bit is the tell for today's digital mixing environment.
A large number of DAW's today use at least 32 bit float internally, there is NO clipping happening internally. And then there are those that use 64 bit float (PT) internally.
This was a very real concern in the past, but as computers have become faster and programs evolved it has faded as a problem if minimal attention is paid to running your system.
I love tape machines, I have 1 ATR 102, 1 ATR 124 and 4 Studer decks among others. But I hear more truthful audio coming off my digital systems, the audio I hear coming off my tape machines is interesting and very nice, maybe more seductive at times, sometimes less seductive, but I do not hear a loss coming off the digital return compared to the mic.
You have some nice kit there... especially that ATR124, a beast by any measure, sonically, size, weight 🙂 A friend of mine has 2 of them and also a
1" 2 track C37 all valve.
I have a few MCI 110's kicking around and an old 3M M79 2"/16 which needs
restoration. Apparently a good sounding machine.
And of course the final question is how does it sound compared to the sound in the room? My answer is, a pale imitation is what the mic captures. The task at hand is then to make a recording that delivers the emotion of the music/event to the final listener. A task that so far no technology can do without considerable human intervention.
Yep. IMV, the ADC needs to be a little bit more like a tape machine and add
something, however subtle. It's a tricky thing as there are many ingredients
that affect the outcome.
The last time I was in a studio was yesterday, and the day before, and the day before.
Cheers
Alan
But of course that will not qualify you as an expert around here - LoL 🙂
cheers

I first looked at my electronic cross-over (3-way spkr x-over) and notice the long decay times at the -3db points/slope. This was with DRA Labs MLSSA system... as I bought serial number one. Of course, any resonance will be a problem to listen to/thru. So, unless it is well outside audio, it will have an audible effect on the music played.

What about ? (I usually agree with your points of view, and someone told me, this afternoon, a disturbing thing about my own ... biology ... that I was just a cartoon character. ;-)Tourny,
Afraid I have to disagree with you.

Only their MM Cartridges, you know, the cheap ones!
It's the $$$ that matter now?
All phono playback (and record!) systems have a fundamental resonance of the stylus' "effective" mass (including contributions from the cantilever and electrical generator) with vinyl compliance. The very best moving systems push this just above the audible band.
Anti-alias filtering for sampled systems could be said to have top-of-band resonances too, without stretching the term very far. But no bottom-of-band resonances, like phono and tape.
All good fortune,
Chris

I am not far away 😀

George,
I will pray that the powers that be over there won't decrease your pension and pray the kharma gods will see to it that you get and increase....
....so that you can find some wood to make good looking open back speakers.

But there certainly are consumer systems that do not perform as well as the system in a football field.
Yes, and even TEAMs that do not perform well in a football field.
Thanks ED and Richard too.
I over cooked the Chili too. It's still darn good...just not the eat the whole pot over three days good.
It's always a pleasure to read, contemplate, experiment with what y'all contribute, etc. Good things for good people.
May everyone have a blessed and happy new year as it is coming upon us soon.
Cheers,
