I am absolutely sure this will never happen. You will hear stories, instead.

Sorry PMA, I am not the measurement expert that you are. I have, in the past, measured line noise on my own power lines. I must agree that I have heard significant differences, and have not known specifically why. Too bad that you can't hear any differences.

Looks like your pessimism was justified, Pavel. Ah well, no technical progress or useful data, just a promotional exercise and the usual sneering. Comme s'habitude.

Elvee, while I think your plug is a little confrontational to claim joke, I have to ask if your device provides PFC? It interest me quiet a bit. How much noise will it generate? I'm sure some passive parts would improve it. I would like to hear one to compare, as I don't have a conditioner like the others here so your claim may be less true to it, but who knows, maybe it's heaven.

PFC is massively overlooked. The PF has probably become worse than the noise itself in many ways. It has dulled all live instruments immensely for bands. There are some PFC networks being used for line conditioners, but as filters and not actual power correction.

In fact I make "conditioners" that have some filtration, but primarily provide PFC, and the results on electric guitars (including bass) is nothing less than stunning to an attuned musician.

Hi,

@MaxHeadroom. I tend to agree. Some conditioners just kill the life of the music in the progress somehow.

A good power supply starts with a good power transformer to my ears. Trouble is you almost invariable have to have it custom made.

Cheers, 😉

Very, very nicely done experiment, Dan - it indicates that low level noise, or distortion, is very damaging to the perceived sound - essentially because the brain has to work much harder to filter out the extraneous muck, meaning subjectively "poor" presentation and/or onset of listening fatigue at a very early stage.

From comments so far, it appears that unless a "magical" person pops up, like a Jack in the Box, and pursues this idea with a decent appetite for understanding it will wither up, like so many others, on the huge desert of collective apathy ...

Hi,

This post is illegal (at least in my country) !
It is called defamation. Unless you bring the proof there was fraud and that the person who promotes it knew it was a fraud.
It can be prosecuted.

Sure can.... And they all know very well that no one will take that step.
Internet law is slow, very slow but we're getting there.

Cheers, 🙂

P.S. Don't hesitate to contact me.

Virtually all systems have "sounds" - but this is not mentioned in polite, objectivist company 🙂 - just a convenient term to refer to the remaining, audible distortion that the setup contributes to the listening experience.

Easy to apply some labels, like "tube sound" and "horn sound" - these are readily accepted by most, and allow them to mentally "picture" the result. But stuff like "ferrite sound" has the sniff of snake oil about it, and is far less acceptable to many, even though it may convey the sense of a certain aspect in the perceived quality to some ... 🙂

Thanks, Frank ... my suspicion is that many have "learnt" how to not hear differences ... they've been burnt at some stage in the past by getting over-enthusiastic chasing the "new, but not better" variations - and now have gone very grumpy about the whole concept of improving things. It's like a woman has to be 10 times better at doing a job, before she gets respect from the blokes ... 😉
