JL Audio 500/1 v2 Burnt transistors and resistors

It will also be useful when you need to order caps. Don't forget that you can use the depth gauge to measure down into a group of caps (or other components) without removing them.

Don't forget to turn it off if it doesn't have an auto-off feature. Some will still drain batteries when left unused for a long time. I prefer a good old-fashioned dial caliper but very few people will take the time to learn to read them.

thanks.
I just tested these. R597 is reading 10ohms but the others r676 and r555 don’t give me a reading. Does that mean they’ll need replacing as well

There is virtually no chance that those resistors are defective. I wouldn't explore too much in this amp. It's VERY complex and some of the ICs are static sensitive. There's no point in doing damage where this is none.

Most all SMD resistors will show some signs of damage when they're bad. These do not. Add to that that these are in a part of the circuit where there is VERY little current flowing.

Double-check your meter to see if it's set to auto-ranging. If you hold the metal parts of the probes in your fingers (probes not touching), does it read anything?

It’s late and i have work in the morning. Thank you for the explanation and being patient. I thought the amp was dead cause I wasn’t about to start replacing everything lmao but you made me feel better about this process. I will check tomorrow and proceed. Again thank you
