JBL M2 in wall clone

In my opinion, the TV screen not being a hard wall only has one problem which is resonance. If you're able to avoid rattling by any part of the TV / shelves, then I think you would end up with good sound with good stereo imaging.

The wall (baffle) in the above post extends well beyond the speakers (true 180*) which I believe would have an effect on the radiation pattern and reflections, except at very low frequencies. In fact, the baffle seems to be almost double the size of the large mid-horn and with the toe-in, most of the sound clearly goes into the room and not to the sides. The room looks long and the ceiling seems to be really high as well.

It's a very clever design.
I disagree about the screen.
That TV screen is a big surface, aimed directly at and right in front of the listening position, real thing to avoid in an ideal hifi setting
Best you can do is tilt it to the ceiling, but if it is fixed to the wall, i would recommend to at least test what a cloth over it will do to your SQ.
IOW never underestimate what a few square meters of surface will do around you.

See post 10240 for start of discussion on A DIY horn for this.

Not sure where we will end up, but it looks interesting at this stage.

On another note:

Erin detailed some roughness in the JBL M2 bass driver due to the surround 'accordian' edge. (300-600hz)

Is there a better measuring 15 inch bass driver for use up to 800hz? (M2 crossover point). I assume there are limited choices of non accordian surround 15inch bass drivers?
