The product description doesn't say it's an S2 grade. I would be cautious because the photo may be just for demonstration and may not be that of the actual item.

I have an S2 that I purchased direct from Sugden as an upgrade to a Sugden Masterclass CDP. I should sell it one of these days. Any idea what would be a fair price for it nowadays?
By the way I have bought one of the chips pictured as S2 but when I send a message I will not accept any ******** not corresponding to the picture the guy returned the money with some stupid exuse

Looks like I better keep my closely lock up . Lol
Frankly in comparison to stock TDA, the S1 are really really in a class of
it's own. Having both single & 1 double crown, personally I prefer the single
crown more, the double crown is too refine more to hi fi I might add. In any
case if you can lay your hands on either don't bother to think, just snap it
up. You will never regret your purchase if your a Tda 1541 aficionado .

Act NOW if you want affordable new/unused original Taiwan made chips. Don't bother finding old S1 chips ("a class on their own" 🙂) as these sound better. Probably a last chance to find original new ones without suspicion from a reputable source. I know John has a quantity of 1998 Taiwan made chips but sending an email to be sure won't hurt.

1541 sounded better. Borrowed a chip from my friend to compare.
Yes its better the stock TDA but still over balance of the S1 is better
& this was tried on my AYA II dac. Off course if you can get hold of
the Taiwan made version pls go for it. I believe Pedja too has a good
collection for sale

Hello everybody, this is a very interesting thread (and read) so it's a pleasure to contribute in keeping it alive. I am not a big expert (and a newbie on this forum), so I would like to ask for your advice.
I could lay my hands on a Marantz using the 2 chips below (sorry for the poor quality of the pictures).
Now, one of them seems to have been tampered with, and most likely to be a fake. The upper one seems genuine to me.
Any help is most appreciated! 🙂
