Is it possible to run the Esp Guitar Preamp from batteries?

I see you are creating 2 virtual ground one for the opamp cicuit and one for the transistor, why is this done. Also can i have a high res version, i am looking at yours to work out what the bright switch, tone pots and volume controls and grounded too. It looks like ground but surely its is to the virtual ground?

Hi Phil!

Nothing much changes in the redesigned version except that the non-inverted input of both op-amps and the base of the output transistor are now biased to 12V.

Re virtual grounds: There are quite a few ways to skin the virtual ground. 🙂 This just happens to be my method of choice. Lots of useful info on the issue of virtual grounds can be found in the Texas Instrument Application Report SLOA 058 (downloadable).

Re grounding: All ground connections from the original split supply circuit are preserved in my version as well (meaning that all ground connections go to the minus pin/pole of the bottom SLA battery).

Hi Moamps,

Can i get that pot wiring diagram, i have been looking at your layout for a while and i think i understand how to wire up the tone pots onto those 5 headers but gain pot is a mystery since it doesn't seem to join part of the feedback loop like on the original.

Any help very much appreciated,
